Team Building by enhancing Management and Leadership skills. Developing soft skills to get hard results.
Lady Jen took her relentlessness into her career in the mortgage industry. By the time she was in the top 1% of loan officers nationwide, she was doing $50 million a year in production. But the success came with a price. She was perpetually busy, often referring to her home as 'hotel home' due to the countless late nights and missed family moments. "I was always eating cold dinners, because my husband and kids would finally give up on me eating with them," she recalls sadly.
One evening, a client's call pulled Jen away from a family dinner. As she paced outside the restaurant, she saw her family laughing inside, creating memories that she was missing. It was an epiphany. "That was the moment I said, something has to change!", she reveals. Determined to find a way to maintain her thriving business, yet give more to her family, Lady Jen set a goal: keep producing $50 million in closed mortgage loan volume but work only four days a week.
Three years later, she had not only maintained her goal but exceeded it, hitting $102 million in annual closings while working just four days a week. She designed a program, 'Cracking the Top Producer Code', to help others achieve similar success. Later, she retired from lending after having his $1 Billion in loan closings, a feat only few have accomplished. “My life was so much better, and I was done proving. I began living," she explains. Her story is a beacon for anyone looking to escape the cycle of proving oneself and begin truly living.
Lady Jen had a tough childhood, earning the nickname 'Jenny who ain't got a Penny' from her family due to their impoverished situation. The nickname stuck, until she decided it didn't define her any longer.
Jen's father was an alcoholic, and her mother was a verbal abuser. Unlike most victims of bullying, Jen's bully was her mother. "She bullied me nearly every day," Jen recalls, outlining the daily torment of the verbal abuse, as both emotional and physical. The root of her mother's abusive behavior was her own inability to meet familial expectations, a cycle Jen was determined to break.
Lady Jen grew up primarily as an only child, until the birth of her only brother when she was 12. When Lady Jen went to college, her brother was starting kindergarten. Essentially, they both dealt with family struggles in isolation. Their home was a battleground, rather than a sanctuary, filled with yelling, physical threats, and driving mishaps due to her father's drunkenness. "It was never peaceful," Jen says, but she emphasizes that the story doesn't end in tragedy.
Jen's Uncle, the same one who coined her demeaning nickname, once told her she'd follow in her parents' footsteps—become an alcoholic and a verbal abuser, remain poor, and adopt their destructive habits. These harsh predictions spurred Jen to prove not only him wrong, but the rest of her family (34 cousins, 18 Aunts and Uncles). It was a pivotal moment. "I set out to say, no way, it's not going to happen to me," she states. Her transformation is evident in the successful life she and her husband have built, creating a stark contrast to their troubled pasts.
Comparing herself and her husband to Sandra Dee and Danny Zuko from the movie 'Grease,' Jen humorously recounts their 41-year marriage. "He's a little crazy, and I'm a little more proper," she laughs. Their lasting union offers hope and validation that true love can survive even the most troublesome beginnings. They celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary just a few months ago, a testament to their resilience and commitment.
Lady Jen excelled academically and athletically, overachieving in every field to disprove her family's bleak expectations. "I proved everyone wrong," she emphasizes. Named Miss Colorado Springs and then runner-up for Miss Colorado, she even played in the Colorado Springs Orchestra while in high school. Achievements like being a state champion in tennis came naturally as she strived to excel at everything. Having been accepted to Colorado State University in their pre-med program, Jen says, was one of her greatest successes.
Lady Jen's journey from a bullied child to a successful adult is a tale of defiance, perseverance, resilience, and transformation. Her life serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that even when bound by the chains of a tumultuous past, one can break free and forge a limitless future. 'You can create a limitless business and have a beautiful life,' Lady Jen concludes, emphasizing the importance of integrating professional achievement with personal happiness.
