We are an innovation economy driven by human capital, yet in 2015 our workplaces were stuck in the industrial-age, not the information age. Sitting in a room of women with graduate degrees and professional experience, yet un-engaged in the workplace - I realized there was a loss in economic value - value to business, to our Nation's GDP and to women. That loss in value is "Untapped Potential" - my ah-ha moment.
Delving into this loss further, issues of the wage gap, gender equity, diversity and work-life balance were hot in workplace news and our National debate. Problems that needed solving. I observed important workforce trends:
Women out-pace men in education and make up 51% of the entering workforce. There is a growing movement of solidarity: Women supporting women.
The Gig Economy is here: Part-time, flexible opportunities can exist. The freelance economy is the industrial revolution of our time. Mid-Career Internships are a part of that trend, growing exponentially in Europe and the banking industry in NYC. They offer an example of the benefits experienced from bringing women back.
Yes. Technology is changing rapidly. That is a good thing. Re-educating is easier now more than ever thanks to short course nano-degrees and online learning. This demographic can learn tech just like any other. With growing access more women can add value to industry and be more readily available for family needs.
Leveraging these dynamics, Untapped Potential conceived Flexreturn™ Services to prepare you for your next career shift - your return-to-work potential.
