Biography

Dolly Tampos Oksman is a transformational speaker, special education teacher, Certified Autism Specialist, wellness and mental health advocate, behavior analyst, and author dedicated to helping caregivers and educators of autistic children move from stress and overwhelm to calm, clarity, and compassionate connection.

She is the founder of Love. Heal. Believe.™ LLC and creator of the Calm in Chaos™ movement, built around a simple but powerful belief: when we support the well-being of the adults who care for and teach autistic children, we create safer, more compassionate environments where children can thrive.

With more than a decade of experience working with children with autism and developmental differences, Dolly brings a unique combination of classroom experience, behavioral knowledge, autism expertise, and wellness practices to her speaking and training.

Dolly holds a Master of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Arts in Education with a specialization in Special Education, as well as a graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis. She is a Certified Autism Specialist, certified wellness and mental health coach, and NLP Master Practitioner.

But Dolly's work is rooted in more than professional credentials.
Before becoming an educator, Dolly served as a lay missionary and later joined the Missionaries of the Assumption, a society of apostolic life. Her missionary experience deepened her commitment to service, compassion, human dignity, women's empowerment, justice, and peace—values that continue to influence her work today.

Teaching children with special needs gave Dolly another expression of that calling. She became especially passionate about advocating for children who are often misunderstood while recognizing something that is frequently overlooked: the adults supporting them need support, too.

Today, Dolly speaks to educators, school teams, parents, caregivers, autism organizations, and helping professionals about managing stress, emotional regulation, compassionate connection, and creating calm in challenging environments.

Her signature talk, Calm in Chaos™: A Practical Path from Stress to Peace, introduces audiences to her PEACE Pathway™:
P — Pause & Notice
E — Embrace Stillness
A — Acknowledge & Reframe
C — Connect Authentically
E — Engage in Empowering Habits

Through relatable stories, practical strategies, reflection, and interactive experiences, Dolly helps audiences recognize their own stress patterns, pause before reacting, regulate during challenging moments, and develop sustainable practices that allow them to show up with greater calm, clarity, and compassion.

Dolly is also the author of You've Got This!: A Handbook for Navigating Autism with Confidence, Calm Within the Storm: A Practical Guide for Autism Meltdowns, and Finding Your Lost Self: Your 30-Day Journey to Self-Love.

Whether delivering a keynote, professional development training, interactive workshop, or caregiver presentation, Dolly leaves audiences with more than inspiration. She gives them practical tools they can begin using immediately.

Her message is simple:
Become the calm autistic children need.

Invite Dolly to your next conference, school professional development, caregiver event, association meeting, or organizational program and discover how greater calm in the adults who care can create meaningful change for the children they support.

Passion

Dolly is passionate about helping people discover that calm and peace are possible even in the middle of life's chaos.

Her own journey of personal growth, faith, and self-discovery has taught her that we cannot continually pour into others without learning how to care for ourselves. She believes that when we become more aware of what is happening within us, create moments of stillness, and nurture our relationship with God and ourselves, we can show up for others with greater love, compassion, and intention.

Prayer, reflection, journaling, gratitude, and intentional stillness are an important part of Dolly's daily life. Her faith reminds her that life is a precious gift and that peace does not require a perfect or stress-free life. It is something we can learn to cultivate even in difficult moments.

Today, that passion is at the heart of her Calm in Chaos™ movement. As a special educator and autism specialist, Dolly is especially passionate about the well-being of caregivers and educators of autistic children. She understands firsthand how meaningful and demanding it can be to continually care for, teach, and advocate for others.

Dolly believes that caring for the caregiver and supporting the educator are essential parts of supporting the child. Her passion is helping these adults recognize their stress, reconnect with themselves, and develop practical ways to become calmer and more grounded so they can care for themselves while becoming the safe, steady presence the children in their lives need.

At the heart of Dolly's work is a simple desire: to help create a world with more inner peace, compassion, love, and kindness—one person, one classroom, and one family at a time.

Best Story

For many years, Dolly looked fine on the outside while struggling deeply on the inside.
She lived with low self-esteem, chronic stress, and a profound sense of emptiness. She tried to fill that emptiness by doing what she thought would make her feel whole—including attending church almost daily and striving to be the person others expected her to be.

From the outside, people thought she was okay. What they couldn't see were the layers of masks she had learned to wear. Eventually, the pain became overwhelming, and Dolly attempted to end her life. She survived—a turning point that would eventually change the direction of her life.

Her journey toward healing led her more deeply into her faith and eventually into religious life, where she became a missionary nun. Through prayer, stillness, service, community, and greater self-awareness, Dolly began to discover something she had been searching for outside herself: a deeper sense of peace, purpose, and connection with God and herself.

Years later, another chapter of her story began when she became a special education teacher and started working closely with autistic children and children with developmental differences.

Dolly came to understand that behavior is often communicating something deeper. A child who is crying, screaming, shutting down, running away, or becoming physically overwhelmed may not be giving an adult a hard time—they may be having a hard time.

But Dolly noticed something else, too.

The adults were overwhelmed as well.

She saw loving parents carrying worry, guilt, exhaustion, and uncertainty. She saw dedicated teachers trying to meet complex needs while managing classrooms, paperwork, expectations, and their own lives. And she recognized something familiar in them: people giving so much of themselves while quietly carrying stress that others may never see.

That realization brought the different pieces of Dolly's life together.

Her personal journey taught her the importance of looking beneath the mask. Her work with autistic children taught her the importance of looking beneath behavior. And her work with caregivers and educators showed her that we cannot fully support the child while overlooking the well-being of the adults surrounding the child.

This became the heart of Calm in Chaos™.

Today, Dolly combines her lived experience, faith, special education background, autism expertise, behavioral knowledge, and wellness training to help caregivers and educators recognize stress before it overwhelms them, understand their emotional patterns, pause before reacting, and intentionally return to a place of greater calm and connection.

Through her PEACE Pathway™, Dolly teaches that peace isn't the absence of difficult moments. It is learning how to meet those moments differently.

She shares her story not because her journey was perfect, but because she knows what it is like to look okay while struggling inside. She also knows the difference one safe, compassionate, steady presence can make.

That is why her message today is both personal and professional:
Care for the adult. Understand the child. Become the calm in chaos.
Because when caregivers and educators learn to find their own steadiness in difficult moments, they are better able to become the safe, compassionate presence autistic children need.

Origin Story

How Love. Heal. Believe.™ Began

The beginning of Love. Heal. Believe.™ came from a moment Dolly could not easily forget.

One day, a teaching assistant shared a distressing story with her about an incident in which an autistic student had reportedly been harmed by an educator. Dolly's heart broke. As a special education teacher who deeply loves and advocates for her students, the thought of a vulnerable child being hurt by an adult entrusted with their care was difficult to comprehend.

Nothing excuses harming a child. But the story caused Dolly to ask a deeper question:

What happens when the adults caring for children become so stressed, overwhelmed, and emotionally depleted that they lose their ability to respond with patience, compassion, and intention?

Dolly knew firsthand how demanding teaching could be. She saw dedicated educators carrying heavy workloads, challenging behaviors, paperwork, responsibilities at home, and the emotional weight of caring deeply for their students. She also saw parents and caregivers carrying their own exhaustion, worry, guilt, and stress.

And she realized: If we want children to be surrounded by calm, compassionate adults, we also have to care for the adults.

That realization connected with Dolly's own life journey.

Years earlier, during her time in religious life, Dolly had learned practices of prayer, stillness, reflection, self-awareness, and intentional living that transformed the way she responded to stress and difficult emotions. Later, with the support of mentors, coaches, spiritual directors, and through her professional training in education, behavior, autism, and wellness, she continued developing practical ways to return to calm during life's difficult moments.

Standing in her classroom, Dolly began to wonder:

What if I could share what I've learned so that more children could experience adults who feel equipped to pause, regulate, understand, and respond with compassion even in the most challenging moments?

That question became a calling.
And Love. Heal. Believe.™ LLC was born.

What began as a desire to help people manage stress grew into a larger mission. Through years of working with autistic children, Dolly came to see even more clearly that supporting the child and supporting the adult are deeply connected.

That insight eventually became the foundation of Calm in Chaos™ and the PEACE Pathway™. Dolly's work helping caregivers and educators move from stress and emotional overload toward greater awareness, calm, connection, and intentional action.

Today, Dolly speaks and teaches because she believes prevention begins long before a difficult moment.

It begins when adults learn to notice what is happening within themselves.
It begins when they have tools to pause before reacting.
It begins when they understand what may be happening beneath a child's behavior.
And it begins when caregivers and educators recognize that caring for themselves is not separate from caring for the children they serve.

Dolly's vision is simple but deeply personal:
More regulated adults. More compassionate responses. Safer spaces for autistic children to thrive.

This is the heart of Love. Heal. Believe.™
And it is why Dolly invites caregivers and educators everywhere to:
Become the calm autistic children need.
