I am a therapist, life purpose coach, yoga teacher, educator, consultant, writer, small business owner, and proud mama. I’m living proof you can create a life that makes space for all your multi-hyphenate passions.
My thought-leadership is the culmination of 8 years of experience in clinical psychotherapy, 5 years of yoga teaching, and years of research on the most cutting-edge science in healing burnout as well as holistic healing modalities (yoga, ayurveda, reiki, energy healing, and spiritual practices). What sets me apart from other presenters is the way I straddle both worlds, the “woo” and the “textbook,” to help my clients reach deeper levels of healing and growth than they can get in just the medical world (therapy, psychiatry, western medicine) or the holistic world alone. DEEP wisdom and healing comes with the conscious integration of the two.
Through integrating neuroscience, positive psychology, and therapy tools with holistic practices (yoga, mindfulness, biohacking, spiritual practice), I help my clients achieve rapid relief from their stress and help them reclaim their JOY. From there, I help my clients identify the “dream life” they want to be living, and help them systematically work towards achieving it. This is where we leave behind simply “surviving” and finding what it truly means to THRIVE.
I’m OBSESSED with combining psychology and neuroscience with bio hacking and spiritual practice. We CAN have the best of both worlds, both the science and “the woo.”
I spent the summer of 2010 in a Buddhist Monastery learning zen meditation as if I were a novice nun/monk- this radically changed the way I look at my mind, and I now teach others how to manage their mindset and CHOOSE the life they want.
I also worked as a social worker and therapist in a juvenile detention home— too many stories to share here.
MY STORY OF BURNOUT AND TRANSFORMATION
Six years ago, I was completely exhausted, overwhelmed, and burnt-out. I was over-extending myself in my job and my personal life, without much to show for it. I poured every last ounce of myself into taking care of others until there was nothing left for myself.I found myself feeling increasingly exhausted, irritable, and resentful of my job, the people around me, and my life in general. I missed the joyful, fun person I used to be when life was “simpler.”
At the time of experiencing burnout, I was a psychotherapist preaching self-care to my clients, but I was not applying this advice to myself. I reached a turning point of deciding that this was not the way I wanted to keep living. I made the choice to start INVESTING in my own self-care (cue investing thousands of dollars into yoga teacher training, and Reiki certification, hiring my own life coach, etc). Every penny I have spent on my self-development has come back to me tenfold, and has changed my life in PRICELESS ways.
I made it my mission to focus on developing daily self-care routines, re-programming my thinking to be more positive and resilient (yes this is possible), and shifting my perspective to look at my life as if I am the DESIGNER and CREATOR of my own life experience. From there I have gotten crystal clear on the kind of life I am trying to build, brick by brick.
In the last two years of delving into professional coaching, I have seen RAPID changes in my career and my schedule. I now work half as long for twice as much income, in an ideal work schedule I set, making a deeper impact on the people I work with, with a trajectory I’m excited about. I’ve created a life full of purpose and intentional self-care that I don’t need a vacation from. I am FINALLY truly, deeply happy with the life I have created. This is not to say my life is perfect, but I feel more authentic, more fulfilled, more confident, and have better boundaries than I ever had. I no longer feel like a helpless participant in what life has to throw at me. I feel a deep sense of myself and my purpose.
I share my story as testament to what is possible. I thought the above was IMPOSSIBLE 5 years ago. Now I continue to surprise myself with what is possible.
