Biography

I started my career apprx. 12 years ago at Walmart, it was fun and a fast learning after college. Today I still have fun, with the added part that I am more knowledgeable and agile in the corporate environment. This was a result of changing teams constantly, expanding thanks to the new experiences and the challenges across three companies and industries: Walmart, AbbVie and now, American Express.

In my current work I work along side my team in identifying corporate data (information that we acquire, produce and/or consume) that is critical to the enterprise, and building and maintaining the governance (the policies, framework, procedures, rules, etc.) that rule that data.

In terms of speaking engagement, I love to discuss: changes, growing skills and experience, corporate compliance, third party relationships, auditing, how to be strategic and a critical thinker, and on being an immigrant, latina and growing in the latin culture.

A little in the personal side: I am originally from the Dominican Republic, but grew up in New York where my family and I moved when I was 14 years old. I received a B.B.A. from Lehman College, with a concentration in International Business and minor in Computer Science.

Aside from my work, I am interested in global economic and social issues, such as wealth inequality, access to education and corruption.

I am a volunteer board member of DAMA, a Latin, non-for-profit organization located in Chicago, Illinois.
