Leadership in diverse environments
During my time at Allison Transmission, as VP of Purchasing, one of the Engineers essentially accused Purchasing of doing anything to save a dollar. I worked closely with the engineering team to show them that cost reduction was everyone's job and could be done in conjunction with quality and reliability improvement. When I left, one of the lead engineers wanted to know, who was going to support their focus on cost reduction when I left?
After 24 years of a successful career in the Automotive Industry, I was looking for a job during the 2009/10 recession. I ended up running a start-up company. Over the past 10 years, I have seen so much - great investors and terrible investors, a couple of great founders and mostly terrible founders. I have learned both the right stage of the company as well as the the type of founder that I'd like to join. Haddington Dynamics has both the right kind of founder and is at the right stage for my skills - namely, enough revenue and getting ready to grow exponentially and founders who know they don't have all of the answers.
