Melanie is a co-host of the popular podcast Elite Expert Insider. She started her career as a News Anchor in Detroit after she won the title of Miss Michigan and was the first runner-up to Miss America. When I was faced with the daunting challenge of what to do with my 25,000 square foot mansion in Houston, Texas, and my 13,000 square foot summer home in Walloon Lake, Michigan during an economic downturn, I knew I had to think outside the box. That's when I had the idea to turn them into luxury vacation and event rental properties.
At first, I was hesitant. But then, I looked online to see if there was anything like this in Houston, and there was nothing. No competition — and I knew how to do it.
I used my marketing skills and innovative technologies to target the right audience on social media. I poured my heart and soul into this project, determined to make it a success.
And it paid off. The Houston Mansion and Walloon Lake House turned into six figure income properties. I was excited to see my hard work and perseverance pay off.
Turning these properties into successful vacation and event rental properties during a challenging economic climate was not an easy feat, but it was worth it. It's a testament to my skills as a marketer and entrepreneur and a reminder that anything is possible with determination and creative thinking.
Imagine a brilliant idea born from the meeting of two single moms- Melanie Johnson and Jenn Foster - at a conference. As they sat and chatted, the idea of collaborating on a book writing retreat surfaced. They named it "Hot Chicks Write Hot Books on the Beach" and created a retreat like no other.

But their dream soon hit a rough patch when the retreat failed to make any sales. Jenn and Melanie refused to give up and dived into their sales training to sell the retreat in June, only a few months away.
Determined, Melanie landed one sale. With only one sale, doubt started to surface, should they do the retreat at all with just one client. But then magic happened when the client reached out and wanted her daughter to write a book too.
And with just two clients, the retreat finally began. The clients became bestsellers, and before they knew it, their phones were ringing off the hook with people wanting to write their books. Thus, Elite Online Publishing was born.
