Biography

Amy Dougherty, BCHMC | Menopause & Midlife Coach, Speaker, and Author

Amy Dougherty is a Board-Certified Menopause Coach, women’s empowerment speaker, and founder of Thriving In Midlife, where she helps Gen X women navigate the physical, emotional, and personal challenges of midlife with confidence, clarity, and a healthy dose of humor.

With a refreshingly honest, no-BS approach, Amy tackles the conversations women have been told to quietly endure, from hormonal changes, exhaustion, and stubborn midsection weight gain to self-doubt, identity shifts, and the pressure to keep putting everyone else first.

Drawing from her own midlife journey, professional experience, and expertise in menopause wellness, Amy blends practical, actionable strategies with relatable storytelling, humor, and a little well-placed sarcasm.

Her signature message, From Plot Twist to Purpose, challenges women to stop apologizing, reclaim their voice, and recognize that midlife isn’t a crisis to survive. It’s an opportunity to redefine what comes next.

Amy is also the author of the forthcoming book Zero F’s Left to Give, an unapologetically honest exploration of menopause, midlife, and finding the courage to live life on your own terms.

Whether speaking about menopause, women’s health, confidence, personal growth, or navigating life’s unexpected transitions, Amy leaves audiences feeling seen, empowered, and ready to take action.

Her philosophy is simple: Midlife is just getting good and surviving isn't enough.

Passion

What really lights me up is talking about the possibilities that come with midlife. The idea that our best years aren’t behind us. They’re still ahead of us!

I love encouraging women to rediscover who they are beyond the roles they’ve played, the expectations they’ve carried, and the people they’ve spent decades taking care of.

This is OUR season! A chance to get curious, try something new, rediscover old passions, or chase a dream we never even knew we had.

And here’s the beautiful part: What lights you up now might be something you never expected. Something that wasn’t even on your radar five years ago.

I want women to walk away knowing they haven’t missed their chance, they’re not too old, and they sure as hell aren’t done yet!

Midlife isn’t the final chapter. It’s where the story gets really good!

Best Story

For most of my life, I told myself I wasn’t a writer.

My childhood report cards regularly said I talked too much or was disruptive in class. So I decided I was a talker, not a writer. And somewhere along the way, that became a story I believed about myself.

Even though I once won a creative writing award in sixth grade!

Fast-forward a few decades, and here I am in my 50s, writing my first book, Zero F’s Left to Give.

The irony isn’t lost on me.

But here’s what that experience taught me: Sometimes the biggest thing standing between us and what we’re capable of isn’t our age, our circumstances, or even our abilities.

It’s the story we’ve been telling ourselves for decades.

And the beautiful thing about midlife? We finally get to question those stories, rewrite the ones that no longer serve us, and discover possibilities we never imagined.

I spent decades believing I wasn’t a writer. Turns out, I just hadn’t written my next chapter yet.

Origin Story

Believe it or not, my journey into women’s empowerment started with selling sex toys. Yep, you read that right!

But what I quickly discovered was that I wasn’t just selling products. I was creating a space where women felt comfortable asking questions, sharing insecurities, talking about their relationships, and discussing things they’d never felt comfortable saying out loud.

Without realizing it, I was already coaching, mentoring, and empowering women. I just didn’t have a fancy certification hanging on the wall.

Years later, after navigating my own perimenopause journey and discovering just how little women were being told about this stage of life, everything came full circle.

I became a Board-Certified Menopause Coach and founded Ignite Your Spark to help women reclaim their confidence, their health, and their sense of self.

Turns out, I’ve been helping women find their spark for years. I just took a rather unconventional route to get here!
