Biography

Deb Shannon empowers high-impact professionals to find resilience, renewal, and the ability to shape their own lives through practical mental fitness. Specializing in women in healthcare, Deb draws on deep experience in the healthcare, tech and public service sectors. Neuroscience, sports, and culture are the foundation of her transformative presentations. She harnesses real stories to demonstrate how simple, science-backed shifts in self-talk can spark lasting personal and organizational transformation.

Passion

Tennis, training dogs, sailing and the infinite source of my stories: NATURE.

Best Story

Transforming Turbulence into Flow. In this session, Deb uses a real-life story of a passenger's personal crisis in an airplane - how she navigated chaos at 30,000 feet- to illuminate how mental fitness works in action. Audiences experience, discuss, and practice rapid tools for activating their “Sage” and shifting from fear or fatigue to calm, creative response. Through group prompts and guided exercises, Deb shows exhausted leaders how inner work produces contagious ease, resilience, and cultural change.

Origin Story

My Story: From the Alps to the Exam Room

My path to the stage has never been a straight line, and audiences connect with the twists and turns of my story.

A Fulbright grant took me from the University of Vermont to Austria, where I taught English, milked cows by hand on an Alpine farm and translated at the World Ski Championships.

Back home, I joined one of Vermont's first Internet startups, worked at Merrill Lynch, and wrote the State of Vermont's Telecommunications Plan. At Cerner the global medical records tech firm, I worked inside hospitals alongside clinical teams, building wellness programs and stronger communication.

Coaching began as a side gig with young women in healthcare tech who were being sidelined.

One day walking my dog in the park, I met an OB-GYN who wanted to be seen as a whole person, not just her credentials. Our work together transformed her outlook, and her colleagues have been calling ever since.

Today, I help OB-GYNs and women in public service stop sacrificing themselves to fix broken systems, so they can thrive at work and in life.

What your audience gets: real stories, practical tools they can use the next day, and a speaker who has lived the reinvention she talks about. Expect high energy, warmth, and a room that leans in.
