Biography

Hi, I’m Kelly Mallery! I’ve spent my career in manufacturing, helping teams and leaders navigate change. I know firsthand how difficult this can be. Over my 10+ years across industries like solar, industrial construction products, aerospace, and now medical devices, I realized that true change doesn’t happen because you have the right or enough data, it also doesn’t happen by having the best idea. It happens when we stop pushing harder and start connecting with people, helping solve their real problems, and speaking the language of upper leaders.
This is why I launched my own coaching business, so I can help women in manufacturing and CI grow their credibility faster so they can have greater impact with less heartache and exhaustion. In addition to coaching these women, I work as a Director of Operational Excellence at Viant Medical, where I drive continuous improvement across 5 sites in North America and Costa Rica. I am also a proud Kata Girl Geek and founder of Kata School Northeast, helping people find the power and magic of practicing scientific thinking to reach goals they thought previously impossible.

Passion

Supporting people in continuous improvement and change management so they can have greater impact with less heartache and exhaustion.

Best Story

I LOVE transformers. You know, the toys from the 1980's that look like a car and then suddenly, become a robot. My brother and I played with these toys a lot when we were young. When I was in high school, these toys even inspired me to become an engineer. I loved how they were "more than meets the eye". They are actually designed to change and transform. If only people were designed to change and transform. That would make change so much easier in our organizations. But it is not that easy. But what if it could be? What if we knew the secrets to unlock people's ability to change just like Transformers? This was the question that drives me today.

Example Talks

Change Wars: Why Fighting Resistance is the Wrong Battle and What to do Instead

The only constant in our organizations is change. And wherever there is change, you'd better believe resistance follows! But does our approach to facing resistance actually work? What if how we show up when facing resistance, actually creates more resistance? What if we really understood how our approach triggers more resistance and were able to uncover the real reason people are resisting? In this session, we'll explore just this. We'll uncover the hidden patterns that show up in us when we face resistance, the real roots of people's resistance (and no it's not really the change), and techniques for shifting our approach in the moment for better outcomes. Through storytelling, fun characters, and a nod to my favorite 1980's cartoon, I will help you see that there really is more than meets the eye with resistance.
