Rebecca is in her 30th year as a successful entrepreneur, serving large nonprofits and other mission-driven clients in social services, health and higher education as a trusted advisor and strategy coach. She has written several books on adaptable leadership. She holds a PhD in sustainable communities and is on the faculty of Thought Leaders Business School. She is a master facilitator, certified executive coach and professional speaker. Her clients most often say they hire Rebecca for her insight, warm energy, and ability to bring clarity to complex situations. She speaks on adaptability, imagination and transitions. She is especially gifted at helping leaders skillfully navigate change and uncertainty, and she does it equally comfortably in large ballrooms, Board rooms and in retreat settings around the world.
Rebecca uses imagination as a strategy tool -- not the 'rainbows and unicorns' kind of imagination, but strategic, collective imagination that leads to a shared, vivid picture of the future people want to create together. She loves to help them discern what's fixed and what's flexible as they set an adaptable but clear course toward that desired future. She enjoys offering people evidence-backed ways to feel energized instead of depleted by constant change. And she particularly loves inviting people to talk about whatever it is that truly lights them up. (For her, that's travel planning).
With 30 years of experience across sectors and countries, Rebecca has a well-stocked library of stories! She delivers them with energy and candour. Many are drawn from her global travels, her experience as a strategy facilitator with hundreds of organizations, and her love of parenting and grandparenting. You might hear about what her son Jonah taught her (in his Darth Vader phase) about collective imagination, or what she learned about adaptability when she spent the night with a cow in Tanzania. You could hear about her lived experience of being off-script but not off-track as a facilitator, or about the strategic challenges of being on a dysfunctional Board of Directors. Her stories are relevant and timely, selected to optimize both attention and application.
Rebecca didn't think of herself as a facilitator or founder initially. She was primarily a mom of four busy kids, who accepted contracts to use her sharp mind in interesting ways when the opportunities sounded interesting and she could find childcare. When it came time to 'get a real job,' Rebecca realized that the role she'd fallen into was the one she wanted to embrace intentionally. She has continued to find creative ways to combine family life, her love of travel and her entrepreneurial skill for the past 30 years.
