But what truly sets Dr. Lea apart is that she does not simply teach resilience. She has lived it.
A sexual assault survivor who transformed adversity into purpose, Dr. Lea speaks openly about overcoming trauma, stress, identity challenges, and high-performance pressure with a level of authenticity that resonates across industries and generations. When faced with infertility, she expanded her definition of family by adopting her daughter from a foreign country who spoke no English, an experience that deepened her passion for inclusivity, human connection, communication, and the extraordinary adaptability of the human spirit.
As the creator of the AWARE Method™, Dr. Lea helps audiences understand the subconscious patterns driving stress, burnout, emotional reactivity, communication breakdowns, and performance limitations. Her work bridges science, resilience, emotional intelligence, neuroplasticity, and mind-body awareness in a way that is relatable, actionable, and immediately applicable.
Whether speaking to executives, healthcare professionals, educators, veterans, or leadership teams, Dr. Tanya Lea delivers more than motivation.
She creates perspective shifts that stay with audiences long after the event ends.

From Breakdown to Awakening: Turning Adversity Into Growth
What puts a smile on my face most is human connection. I genuinely love people, learning, meaningful conversation, and experiencing the world through different perspectives and cultures. I’m deeply passionate about kindness, inclusivity, emotional intelligence, and helping people recognize the potential within themselves and others.
I also love learning new things and embracing new experiences. Whether it’s traveling, skiing, hiking, exploring different cultures, or simply stepping outside of routine, I believe growth happens when we stay curious, open-minded, and fully engaged with life.
One of the most impactful stories I share is about redefining what life is supposed to look like when things do not go according to plan. After years of struggling with infertility and experiencing disappointment after disappointment, I finally stopped trying to force life into the picture I had imagined.
I had gone through infertility treatments, explored adoption agencies, volunteered with children, worked with children, and kept hitting roadblock after roadblock. Eventually, emotionally exhausted, I threw my hands in the air and deployed to Iraq.
What I could have never predicted was that someone on my team had brought his younger sister to America. Then life took a completely unexpected turn.
Through deployments, court proceedings, and a series of twists I never could have planned, I became the legal adoptive guardian… also known as Mom… to a little girl named Imane.
She spoke no English. We came from completely different cultures and worlds. Yet somehow, we learned each other anyway.
The experience challenged me, stretched me, humbled me, and transformed me. It taught me more about resilience, adaptability, inclusivity, communication, and human connection than any classroom or degree ever could.
Ultimately, it is a story about learning that growth does not always come from controlling the outcome. Sometimes the most transformative moments in life happen when we release the version we thought we needed and become open to something greater than we originally imagined.
The origin of Consciously Aware came from one of the most unexpected and life-changing moments of my life.
After more than 27 years of never speaking about a traumatic experience, I woke up on a hospital floor screaming about it. Something buried deeply in my subconscious had surfaced physically and emotionally all at once. That moment forced me to stop and ask a question I had been asking my entire life: Why?
Why do certain patterns keep repeating? Why do people stay stuck in survival mode even when they consciously want change? Why does the body continue reacting long after the mind says, “I’m over it”?
That experience became the catalyst for everything that followed. I went back to school to deeply study human behavior, emotional patterns, trauma, neuroscience, mental health, mind-body medicine, and the connection between subconscious programming and physical wellbeing.
What I discovered is that we can only change what we are consciously aware of. So much of human behavior is driven beneath the surface by unresolved emotions, conditioned responses, and patterns stored within the body.
That realization became the foundation for Consciously Aware and the AWARE Method™. My work is centered around helping people understand the intelligence of the body, recognize the patterns driving their stress and behaviors, and create lasting transformation by bringing the subconscious into conscious awareness.
At its core, my work is not about labeling people as broken. It is about helping them understand themselves differently, reconnect with their inner awareness, and recognize that sometimes what appears to be a breakdown is actually an invitation to journey inward and heal.
