Armed with a Master’s of Science Degree in Human Resource Management, two bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Communications from Chapman University, and SHRM – SCP and SPHR certified, and 35 years of experience doing HR --- Karyn is well equipped to deal with the monumental and ever-changing workforce shifts when it comes to leading our humans.
Karyn Jensen founded a full service HR firm, HRC, Ltd. 20 years ago to tackle the complex “people issues” facing her industry. To date, Karyn and her team have helped more than 400 organizations navigate their way through recruitment, employee relations, leadership, and legal compliance.
Karyn’s true passion is public speaking and training, having spoken to more than 5,000 people in her career. She believes, “When it comes to leading your humans, you don’t have time to not have time!” Maintaining a home life, professional life, and personal life can make your day to day hard to manage; Karyn makes the road easier by delivering workshops, keynotes, and training focusing on time management, reducing stress, employee retention, leadership, communication, and productivity. She asks the tough questions, so you walk away ready to motivate, retain, and manage your organization at an exceptional level.
What truly puts a smile on my face is seeing people walk away not only feeling inspired but equipped with tangible takeaways they can immediately apply to their personal lives or their work. I love when a room shifts, when people start connecting ideas, reflecting on their own experiences, and having those “lightbulb moments” that help them show up better for themselves and for the people around them.
I especially enjoy the back-and-forth with an audience. Some of the most meaningful moments come from the conversations that happen during and after a session, when people share their struggles, their aspirations, their team dynamics, and the challenges they’re navigating. And if we’re laughing together along the way, even better.
I draw heavily on more than 35 years of experience in HR, using real-world stories, metaphors, and analogies from working with individual leaders, teams, and entire organizations. My goal is to help people bridge communication gaps and build stronger, more human-centered workplaces.
I’m also deeply passionate about sharing my personal story of adversity, including childhood abuse and suicide attempts, and the faith and resilience that helped me find my way forward. When sharing that journey helps even one person feel less alone or more hopeful, it reminds me why these conversations matter so much.
In June of 2025, I did something I never thought I would have the courage to do: I got on a horse and participated in the Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive.
I know that might not sound like a big deal. But for me, it was monumental. When I was a teenager, I had a serious horseback accident. I was thrown face-first into a boulder and left in a coma for 24 hours. Since that day, I hadn’t been able to get back on a horse until the 2025 Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive.
With courage, determination, and a few “What the hell am I doing?” moments, I faced my fear head-on and joined the annual cattle drive. The experience was raw, emotional, and transformative. It reminded me how that early tragedy shaped who I am today. The resilience, grit, and determination I gained through hardship are the same qualities that helped me build a successful business and speak in front of thousands of people every year.
That moment on horseback also reminded me that what you have overcome in the past is your superpower. Whether you are starting a new business, taking on a big promotion, or cowgirl-ing up and getting back in the saddle, you already have the strength to do hard things.
My origin story really started when I had a two-year-old at home and was working in corporate America. I loved the work I was doing in HR, but what I really wanted was to be present with my kids. I remember telling my husband how torn I felt between my career and wanting to be a stay-at-home mom. He said something simple that ended up changing my life: “Why don’t you work for yourself?”
So I did.
I started my business in a 1,300-square-foot house with a toddler and a puppy running around. Some days it felt like I was pretending to be both a business owner and a stay-at-home mom at the same time. But little by little, that idea grew into something real.
While raising my two daughters, I built HRC, Ltd. from the ground up. What started at my kitchen table is now a full-service HR consulting firm that has helped more than 400 organizations navigate recruitment, employee relations, leadership challenges, and legal compliance.
After 35 years in HR, with degrees in Human Resource Management, Psychology, and Communications, along with SHRM-SCP and SPHR certifications, I’ve spent my career helping leaders figure out how to lead their humans better.
Today I bring those lessons to the stage. I share the real stories, the hard lessons, and the practical strategies that help leaders communicate better, reduce stress, retain great people, and build stronger teams. Because when it comes to leading your humans, you don’t have time to not have time.
