Biography

I am an operator, author, and advisor who helps non-technical leaders build confidence and fluency with artificial intelligence through real-world use, not theory.

After 20 years in finance and operations roles at large technology companies, I was laid off during the rapid rise of AI and found myself needing to learn the tools quickly to stay relevant. Instead of going back to school or taking long courses, I learned AI in real time, under pressure, while working on political campaigns, launching a podcast, and consulting with small businesses.

That journey became my book, Out of the Loop, Into the Algorithm: How I Finally Made Friends with AI, which explores how everyday people can move from fear to agency by using AI as a thinking partner, not a replacement for human judgment.

My work focuses on demystifying AI for women leaders, operators, and creatives by modeling how these tools can support decision-making, problem solving, and career navigation in practical, human ways. I speak from lived experience, not a technical pedestal, and my goal is always the same: help people leave feeling capable, grounded, and curious rather than overwhelmed.

Passion

Helping people move from fear to confidence with tools that once intimidated them, especially women who have been told they are “not technical,” and showing how curiosity and experimentation can unlock new opportunities.

Best Story

While getting my hair braided, I struck up a conversation with the woman sitting next to me. She told me she was scared of AI, working two jobs, raising kids, and felt guilt for never finishing high school. She believed learning new skills could change her life but did not know where to start.

Instead of giving advice, I opened ChatGPT on my phone and invited her to talk through her biggest problem. Together, in under an hour, we mapped out a realistic path for her to pursue her education and identified free local resources she did not know existed.

Two weeks later, she came back to the salon just to share that she had enrolled in a program, secured childcare, and was starting classes. That moment reinforced why I do this work. AI did not replace her thinking. It helped her organize it and gave her the confidence to take the next step.

Origin Story

I spent most of my career avoiding artificial intelligence. Even while working in large technology companies, I resisted using the tools directly because I did not understand them and did not trust what I could not explain.

That changed when I was laid off during the rapid acceleration of AI and realized that avoiding it was no longer an option. I did not have the time or desire to become technical. I needed to figure out how to use these tools immediately, in real life, to solve real problems.

I started experimenting quietly, using AI to think through decisions, organize complex work, and move faster across consulting, political campaigns, and creative projects. What surprised me was not the technology itself, but how quickly fear dissolved once I engaged with it directly.

The turning point came when others began asking me to show them how I was using AI in such practical, human ways. That is when I realized my work was not about teaching technology. It was about helping people trust themselves again while using it.
