Biography

Kaiser passionately believes that even the most transformative innovations can be fast, scrappy and accessible to us all. Through decades of research and real-world experiences, he has developed a systematic approach to harnessing innovation to drive tangible outcomes.

The 5 Core Mindsets of Innovators is a high-impact keynote that equips audiences with a practical, actionable framework to unlock their creative potential. Rather than chasing risky, expensive moonshots, participants learn how small, daily acts of creativity can drive measurable results and build a sustainable competitive advantage.

In this engaging keynote, award-winning author and globally recognized innovation expert Kaiser Yang dispels the myth that innovation is reserved for a select few. He shows why innovation must happen at all levels and in every role, and shares proven mindsets and techniques used by some of the world’s most effective everyday innovators.

Passion

The most gratifying part of my work is seeing the impact in real time—the moment someone realizes they’re far more creative than they ever thought.

I’m passionate about unlocking human creativity and sparking those “aha” moments where complex challenges suddenly feel approachable. I love helping everyday people become everyday innovators, empowering them with the mindsets and tools to help drive meaningful impact and progress.

Best Story

One story I often share is about a Korean grocery retailer that noticed something small but meaningful: customers loved buying bananas, but hated how quickly they spoiled. Most retailers would have simply said, “There’s nothing we can do—that’s just how bananas are sold.”

Instead, this team chose to look for the unexpected solution. They re-packaged their bananas by ripeness—a couple bananas ready to eat now, combined with a couple that would be ready in a few days. This simple but powerful micro-innovation reduced food waste, improved the customer experience, and—remarkably—in a highly commoditized category, allowed the retailer to sell their bananas at nearly twice the price measured by weight.

Origin Story

Kaiser has spent most of his career innovating at the forefront of the digital transformation, holding senior roles at three tech startups launching large-scale digital programs for Fortune 100 clients such as Microsoft, Disney, T-Mobile, and Nike. He’s led all three start-ups to successful exits with a combined value of over $525 million. Kaiser has also held leadership roles within large, global organizations, and he is an award-winning restaurateur.

Through it all, the need to be creative - to find a way, to figure it out, to do it differently - has been the one underlying commonality. In fact, he is the author of a new book on this specific topic called Crack the Code, 8 Surprising Keys to Unlock Innovation. Kaiser's broad-based experience in technology, operations, sales, and marketing helps him serve clients today with a multi-disciplinary approach, unlocking their creative potential and applying it towards productive, innovative outcomes.

Today, Kaiser serves as the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Platypus Labs, an innovation enablement firm focused on helping teams and organizations unleash their creative potential and drive measurable outcomes.
