Biography

Hello, I'm Roberta Moore. I'm an executive coach, licensed marriage and family therapist, author and found of the The EQ-i Coach. I help leaders elevate performance through emotional intelligence, specifically building skills like assertiveness, confidence and empathy. With a background in accounting, banking and finance and two decades owning my business, I bring both business insight and human depth to my work. I founded Conscious Choices, a therapy practice focused on personal and relational growth, 25 years ago. I love empowering people to lead with heart, clarity, and emotional presence.

Passion

The topic that always puts a smile on my face? Emotional intelligence. It's not just as a buzzword, it is a teachable, transformational skill set that can change how we lead, love, and live. Anyone at any age can learn to build their skills. I light up when I talk about how empathy, assertiveness, confidence, and presence aren’t soft—they’re powerful. Especially when I see leaders realize that EQ isn’t something you either have or don’t, that t’s something you can grow. That realization? That moment of inner permission? It never gets old and I almost feel addicted to it. When we develop high EQ we become better versions of ourselves: we can offer more of ourselves to our loved ones, co-workers, and communities. High EQ is what we need to lead us into the best future possible.

Best Story

One of the most pivotal stories I share from the stage began in my therapy office. A banker brought in his 8-year-old daughter for child-centered play therapy. She had scored a 99 instead of a 100 on a math test and said she wanted to die. Through our work, I discovered she didn’t want perfection: she wanted her dad. Time. Play. Presence. When I shared this with her father, a lightbulb went off, not just about their relationship, but about his own struggles with team engagement and communication at work. That was my moment of truth: the emotional skills we need at home are the same ones we need at work. From that day on, I knew I was called to bring emotional intelligence into both spaces: therapy and executive coaching alike.

Origin Story

When I became certified in the EQ-i 2.0, I took the assessment myself—and the results were a wake-up call. I saw, in stark relief, where I was thriving, where I was imbalanced, and where I needed to grow. That insight sparked a deeper journey. I hired a coach, committed to building those underdeveloped skills, and realized: this isn’t just a tool for others—it’s a mirror for all of us. The real transformation came when I integrated systems theory from my therapy background with the EQ-i model. It became a holistic, emotionally intelligent framework I now offer to leaders: one that honors both the inner world and external impact. That moment reshaped my work forever.
