Marian Newsome is the Founder and CEO of ETM Consulting (Ethical Tech Matters LLC), an AI governance advisory firm specializing in defensible governance for high-consequence systems. She is one of fewer than 100 globally certified IEEE CertifAIEd Lead Assessors worldwide, a credential requiring demonstrated technical competency in AI ethics and risk assessment. A three-time independent delegate to the UN Science Summit, she brings policy foresight to boardroom-level AI governance conversations. Marian draws on 18 years of enterprise experience at Dell Technologies, including SCADA and critical infrastructure work. She advises eight AI startup boards across healthcare and consumer technology and is a member of the IEEE Standards Association. Her Triangle of Trust framework combines certified competence, policy foresight, and vendor objectivity and is the foundation of ETM's approach to AI governance in regulated industries.
Most organizations are deploying AI faster than they can govern it. We help leaders close that gap by translating complex risk, compliance, and accountability questions into practical decisions that protect people, organizations, and the board members responsible for both.
AI governance fails when boards treat it as paperwork instead of infrastructure. The organizations that get this right are not waiting for enforcement. They are asking hard questions before deployment, assigning clear accountability, and building the kind of trust with regulators and customers that becomes a competitive advantage. That shift from compliance burden to governance dividend is what I help leaders make.
Eighteen years at Dell Technologies, watching enterprises react to AI, privacy, and security failures rather than prevent them. I founded ETM Consulting because most organizations don't need more AI innovation. They need governance that actually works before the regulator, the customer, or the incident forces the conversation.
