Biography

I am an Associate Professor in Leadership at the Henley Business School, University of Reading, and I teach on our Executive MBA programmes internationally. I am the School Director of Academic Tutoring, providing strategic oversight and leadership of initiatives to support student engagement with their studies and student development, progression, and well-being for the nearly 10,000 students at the business school. I am the co-author of the book Personal Leadership in the Age of No Retirement, written with my colleague Tatiana Rowson.

I have a BA degree from Barnard College, Columbia University, a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and an EMBA from Henley. I have had a rich and unusual career path, pursuing a first academic career in theoretical linguistics, followed by more than a decade of management in the higher education sector, followed by a second academic career in business and personal development. Higher education has enormous power to change and enrich people’s lives, and I am privileged to spend my working life helping people in this pursuit.
