Storytelling/ Bridging the Gap between creatives and technology
"The Day I Walked Away from the Safe Thing"
(A True Story by Jori O’Neale)
Let me take you back to the moment I knew everything was about to change.
I was standing in front of my high school classroom—18 years into teaching, leading kids through health lessons, organizing events, coaching teachers... doing all the things. From the outside, I was winning. Good job. Good salary. Benefits. Stability. But inside?
I was empty.
Not because I didn’t love my students. I did. But I knew I was building someone else’s vision while mine was sitting on the back burner. I’d spent years helping others find their voice… while silencing my own.
Then one day—mid-lesson—I had this sudden, quiet thought:
“You’re not supposed to be here anymore.”
Not in a rebellious way. Not even in frustration. Just... a deep knowing.
This season was over.
But leaving wasn’t simple. I had over $100K in debt. A mortgage. No guaranteed income from my business. I wrestled with God: "You want me to leave now? With all this? What if I fail?"
And God whispered back: "But what if you fly?"
So I did the unthinkable.
I turned in my resignation with no backup plan—just a calling, a crazy amount of faith, and a fire in my bones.
And since that day, I’ve helped others write and publish their books, created a thriving coaching business, launched a podcast, and spoken to audiences I once only dreamed of. I traded safety for significance.
And I’ve never looked back.
Jori O’Neale: From Classroom to Creative Catalyst
For nearly two decades, I thrived in the classroom—teaching, leading, and empowering the next generation. But somewhere between lesson plans and leadership meetings, I felt a holy discontent stirring. I was successful by every traditional measure, but I knew I was settling. My voice was being used—but not fully unleashed.
Then came the moment that changed everything.
I was standing in front of a classroom I loved… and I knew—I wasn’t meant to stay. It was time to step out of comfort and into calling. So, I did the unthinkable: I walked away from a stable, high-paying job without a safety net—just a God-given vision and an unshakable belief that my voice was meant for more.
Today, I’m a 9x published, best-selling author, podcast host, Christian productivity coach, and founder of IYH Innertainment LLC—where faith, storytelling, and strategy collide. I help aspiring authors write transformational books, teach professionals how to communicate with clarity and purpose, and speak on stages to help people unlock their creativity and answer the call on their lives.
Whether I’m leading a writing retreat, hosting a panel of powerhouse women, or delivering a keynote on courage, purpose, or productivity—my mission is simple:
To help people stop settling and start showing up as the storytellers and change-makers they were created to be.
