Biography

Sophia Lin is no stranger to chaos. Her career began on a trading floor in Asia, watching Lehman Brothers collapse in real time. As a first-generation college graduate from Taiwan—and the first in her family to live, study, and work overseas—Sophia had already beat the odds just getting there. That pivotal moment didn’t scare her off; it shaped her philosophy: uncertainty is not something to fear, but a space to find your edge.

Today, Sophia is a real estate entrepreneur and small business strategist with a global perspective, having lived and worked across six countries on four continents—including Taiwan, Switzerland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, and the U.S. With over 16 years of experience in finance, M&A, and startup operations, she has built her career around finding opportunity through chaos and creating calm through structure.

She brings this mindset to her work as the founder of COZi, a flexible housing business she scaled from scratch during the height of the pandemic. While the industry floundered, she led a strategic repositioning effort that turned undervalued properties into high-performing assets—achieving 15–25% ROI and maintaining 80–90% occupancy, even when cities were shut down. Sophia credits this to a mix of operational agility, data-driven pricing, and an obsession with solving real problems—quickly and sustainably.

Her expertise spans:

1) Small business growth strategy & systems building

2) Real estate investing, asset repositioning, and financial modeling

3) Corporate M&A and strategic partnerships (4 deals in 6 months at a public company)

4) Navigating high-risk environments and building resilience in uncertain markets

5) Cross-border innovation and team scaling in diverse, fast-changing environments

An MIT Sloan MBA and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at UMass, Sophia has been a featured speaker at the Harvard Business School Finance Conference and the MIT 100K, and was named one of Girls in Tech Taiwan’s 40 Under 40. Her talks are deeply human, brutally honest, and refreshingly tactical—blending street-smarts, spreadsheets, and stories of building real businesses under real pressure.

Passion

Sophia speaks on topics where strategy meets real-world execution—real estate investing, small business growth, women in entrepreneurship, and scaling through uncertainty. She’s especially known for breaking down how to find the right customer—not just serve one better—by aligning your product (or asset), pricing, operations, and outreach into one coherent strategy. With a background that blends data-driven financial modeling and M&A with roll-up-your-sleeves operating experience, Sophia offers sharp insight for anyone building something real—whether through acquisition, iteration, or grit.
