I am always excited about Sales Strategies for attracting, converting, and retaining clients. There are so many "out of the box" ways to engage customers. It gets my creative juices flowing to help someone come up with a sales strategy that will grow their business.
My husband and I both have vehicles. One vehicle is registered in my name and the other in his name. My birth month is January and his is December. So, the registration renewals for the vehicles come about the same time. We travelled out of town recently and someone mentioned to my husband that the tag on the vehicle we were using had expired in December. Oh, my...we are driving a vehicle without the registration renewed. We can't avoid driving the vehicle back home to look for the renewal sticker for this vehicle.
Once back home I go through every piece of paper on my desk. I can remember paying for this vehicle renewal, AND, as I check the bank statement the payment for the renewal is completed. So, where is the sticker???? I also checked the MVD website that indicates this vehicle registration has been renewed. After searching and searching I find the sticker for the December vehicle (which is the one we were driving) is nowhere to be found.
Then, I remember. I said to my husband. Here is the sticker for the "car", please put it on when you go outside. OK. I examine the sticker on the SUV, and, guess what there is the sticker that should be on the car. Now, I'm looking for the registration renewal for the other vehicle to only find out that that vehicle's registration was never received or payed for and is more than a year overdue for renewal.
We have driven the SUV for a year without renewal and I can't remove the sticker from the SUV that should be on the car to place it on the correct vehicle. Fortunately, we have the paper renewal for the car so we can drive the car to the MVD to get this all corrected. It will take some $$$$, of course. We are down one vehicle until it is corrected.
This is life. This is business. You will have non-renewals, things that happen that you feel have occurred and haven't. There will be life situations that occur that can affect your business. However, the morale of this story is no matter what, take action to correct and keep focusing forward.
The a-ha moment for me was when the job I had in the insurance industry meant working as a Service Representative to the Salesperson and helping the customers (both at the corporate level and the individuals) solve issues. It wasn't long before I realized that at the sales level there was a greater opportunity for income, while if done properly a lot of service issues would be resolved. This led me to obtain more training and delve deeper into how to improve my life situation.
I started on the sales side as a Field Sales Representative, who was promoted after 5 years to Sales Manager. This training and working in the insurance industry for 20+ years has earned the right to "retire" from being employed by others and graduate to being self-employed with unlimited and unmatched earning potential. This is what I bring to others.
