Who hasn’t been told to “just pick one thing and stick with it”? As an Olympian turned life design strategist, speaker, and edupreneur, I’m here to flip that outdated advice on its head!
I’m passionate about helping people see that having multiple interests isn’t a flaw—it’s a superpower. Through my “Portfolio Mindset” approach, I champion a multi-passionate, multi-disciplinary life that embraces variety, creativity, and authenticity.
Drawing from my personal journey in 40+ countries in 65+ jobs, I am driven by a desire to enhance connection, creativity, and confidence through collaboration so that my fellow multi-passionate Portfolioists can embrace their many talents.
I'm also passionate about personality tests (Obliging Aries Enneagram 3 ENTP here!), decluttering, and chai.
Falling in front of 15,000 Olympic fans was not the plan.
At 15, I’d never competed in front of such a huge crowd. We started on compulsory beam where every gymnast performs the same routine. I was super confident...until my foot slipped and I was down, on the mat staring up in disbelief. Did I just fall, at the Olympics?
Shame. Embarrassment. Disappointment. I wanted to vanish. But no do-overs that day. I had to get it together and finish strong, which I did. That night, I questioned everything. Hundreds of fall-free routines in training, why did this happen?
Olympians don’t stay down for long. The next day I nailed all four optional events, with an all-around personal best score and a 9.75 on the uneven bars, which prompted me to wave to the crowd, just like I'd seen my idol Nadia Comenici do on TV in 1976.
Demonstrating grit and resilience in the face of failure is a life lesson that's stayed with me ever since.
My Olympic journey sparked a lifelong passion for setting bold goals, embracing unique paths, and learning from every fall.
When we fall, it's how we get back up that defines us.
I’ve never fit neatly into any box. I was the kid who was always on the go bouncing from ballet (too rigid), to diving (too cold), to skating (not enough jumping). "Always in motion" was my go-to, chasing something I couldn’t quite name.
Gymnastics became an outlet early on. Being upside-down felt magical and free. Through hard work and perseverance, I reached my Olympic goal by literally flipping my body, and ultimately my life perspective, upside-down.
By overcoming the pressure to follow a right-side up linear path to success, I've chosen a divergent path that includes 65+ jobs in 40+ countries, which has given me unique insights, strategies, and stories about life as a Portfolioist.
Instead of seeing my multiple passions, projects, and projects as flakiness, I learned to embrace a Portfolio Mindset which celebrates multi-dimensionality as a way to enhance adaptability, resilience, and creative problem-solving. Realizing in midlife that my relentless curiosity and hunger for novelty was driven by my undiagnosed ADHD, I have embraced my neurodiversity and now help others do the same.
The kid who refused to stay right-side up didn’t need fixing - she just needed room to cartwheel into confidence.
