Everything is negotiable
I met my best friend in 2000. At the time, she was 45 years old, obese, with joint problems and a fatty liver. Over our 25-year friendship, she cared for and lost friends and family members, never putting herself first. As I learned more about health and nutrition, I tried as best I could to help her make healthy changes to her lifestyle, to no avail.
In 2024, she flew from Australia to the USA to spend the Summer with me. She was a four-year widow who was not taking care of herself. She was constantly in pain, suffering from joint and muscle pain and gut issues, and she was depressed.
In my home, we ate a whole-food, plant-based diet. I educated her about nutrition in a loving and nonjudgmental way. After eight weeks, she had lost 15 pounds, substantially reduced her pain medications, and improved her cardiovascular fitness. Three months later, she still eats the same way back in Australia. She has lost another 10 pounds, is no longer classified as obese, her fatty liver has healed, and she feels better than ever.
This is small proof that when a plant-based diet is adopted wholeheartedly, it can improve your quality of life immensely.
My dad died of a massive heart attack at the tender age of 51. After years of studying nutrition and working with private clients, I am sadly aware that many diseases, including heart disease, are largely lifestyle-determined. Nutrition science has evolved over the past thirty years, and a plant-based diet is cited as the healthiest diet for general health, longevity and disease prevention. I’m on a mission to educate as many people as possible about the benefits of eating more plants and how this can prevent or reverse lifestyle-based diseases.
