Dr. Katie Eastman is a psychotherapist, executive coach, organizational change expert, bestselling author, and international speaker who has spent more than four decades helping people and organizations navigate loss, uncertainty, and transformation.
Her work reveals the often-overlooked human side of change: every visible challenge creates invisible losses that influence how people think, lead, communicate, and perform. Drawing on psychology, organizational change, and decades of experience with individuals, families, teams, and leaders, Dr. Katie gives audiences practical tools for navigating uncertainty while preserving trust, connection, resilience, and human wellbeing.
Helping people and organizations understand that meaningful change begins with the individual but never ends there. One person’s response creates a ripple that affects teams, organizations, communities, and ultimately the greater collective. My passion is helping leaders understand that ripple and use it to create healthier, more resilient, connected, and peaceful cultures.
For more than four decades, I have accompanied people through some of life’s most difficult transitions, from families confronting profound loss to leaders navigating mergers, restructuring, uncertainty, conflict, and organizational upheaval. Across those very different experiences, I discovered something remarkably consistent: change creates loss, and unrecognized loss changes how people think, behave, communicate, and lead. My work now helps people recognize what is happening beneath the visible challenge so they can respond intentionally rather than reactively—and create positive change that ripples outward.
For more than four decades, I have had the privilege of sitting beside people during some of the most profound moments of change in their lives. I began my career working with seriously ill individuals and grieving families, where I learned that change is rarely about what happens on the surface. Beneath it are often invisible losses of identity, certainty, control, connection, meaning, and hope.
That understanding followed me from clinical settings into my work with executives, leaders, and organizations. I began to recognize the same human experience in the workplace. A merger, restructuring, new leader, shifting culture, or unexpected transition may look very different from personal loss, but people still experience uncertainty, fear, and the loss of what was familiar.
Today, my work brings those worlds together. I help leaders recognize what people are experiencing beneath the visible challenge so they can lead change with greater understanding, connection, resilience, and peace. I believe that how one person responds to change creates a ripple that can transform a team, an organization, and ultimately the greater collective.
Artificial intelligence is transforming how we work, but the greatest challenge is not simply technological. It is human.
As organizations adopt AI, employees may experience losses of certainty, competence, control, identity, status, trust, and connection. When those losses are ignored, leaders can see resistance, fear, disengagement, and declining morale.
In this timely keynote, Dr. Katie Eastman helps leaders understand the human response to rapid technological change and shows them how to introduce innovation without losing the people they need to make transformation successful.
Audiences learn how to recognize hidden loss, communicate during uncertainty, support adaptability, preserve connection, and create cultures where technology strengthens rather than replaces human contribution.
Key takeaway: The future of work is not simply about how well we use AI. It is about how well we lead human beings through the changes AI creates.
Every organizational change has two dimensions: the visible challenge everyone is talking about and the invisible losses people are experiencing beneath it.
In this engaging, evidence informed keynote, Dr. Katie Eastman reveals why resistance to change is often not resistance at all. People may be responding to losses of certainty, control, confidence, competence, identity, trust, connection, or belonging.
Drawing on more than four decades of experience as a psychotherapist, executive coach, and organizational change expert, Dr. Eastman shows leaders how to recognize what is happening beneath behavior and respond in ways that strengthen trust, resilience, connection, and performance.
Audiences leave with practical tools for identifying hidden loss, understanding their own responses to change, communicating more effectively during uncertainty, and helping people move forward together.
Key takeaway: Change happens to systems. Loss happens to people. Great leaders understand both.
