Best Story

When I was asked to give a TEDx-style presentation at the school where I was a counselor, I almost declined. I had always been confident in my one-on-one interactions with students, but the idea of speaking to an auditorium full of people was terrifying. However, something in me knew that this was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

As I walked onto the stage, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, and I was sure everyone could hear it. But as I began to speak, something incredible happened. I was sharing a story about resilience, drawing from my own experience battling breast cancer. The room grew so quiet you could hear a pin drop. For the first time, I felt the weight of my words truly resonate with an audience.

At the conclusion of my presentation I was surprised to receive a standing ovation. It hit me that my story, my vulnerability, was touching people in ways I hadn't anticipated. It wasn't just about giving a speech; it was about creating a connection, offering hope, and making an impact.

After the presentation, several people came up to me, not just to thank me, but to share their own stories. That was the moment I realized that public speaking wasn't just about delivering a message—it was about starting a conversation and inspiring change. It was a turning point in my career, leading me to eventually open my own practice, where I could continue to help people on a deeper level.

Origin Story

After working as a high school counselor, where I grew increasingly frustrated with the bureaucracy and parental control, I experienced a life-altering moment when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Losing my hair during treatment forced me to re-evaluate my identity, as I had always seen myself as the tall, pretty blonde. This challenging period led to deep self-reflection, and I realized that my true passion lay in making a meaningful impact on individuals rather than being a part of a rigid system.

I discovered my love for public speaking after giving a TEDx-style presentation at the school I worked at, which sparked a shift in my values. I decided to leave the educational system and open my own therapy practice, Whole Mind Wellness, during COVID. Since then, I have been thriving, dedicating myself to helping others manage anxiety and live their best lives. I've authored workbooks, developed online courses, and regularly write blogs, all aimed at providing practical strategies for personal growth and well-being.
