I am an Information Security professional seeking to bridge the gap between being secure and being compliant. I have spent 20+ years in the Information Security field. I began my career as the Systems Security Officer for a major healthcare benefits administrator, where I was responsible for compliance with federal information security regulations. I continued to expand my information security compliance expertise in the banking, healthcare, and insurance sectors, and currently serve as Information Security Audit Team Lead for Guidewire Software, Inc. I hold CISSP, CRISC, CHSP, and CDPSE certifications, am an ISSA senior member, and currently serve on the boards of the local Birmingham ISACA chapter and the Central Alabama Women in Cybersecurity (WiCys) affiliate. I am an active member of Vestavia Hills Methodist Church. I earned a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Alabama and an MBA from UAB.
On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my husband Ben, our two sons, the family dog Molly, a blissfully sweet Irish wolfhound mix, and foster kitty Lucy. My hobbies include running, tennis, reading, writing poetry, and music.
The topics I am most passionate about at the moment are mentoring new professionals on the path to a cybersecurity or technical career, cutting edge technologies such as AI and quantum computing and how they affect the current collective mindset in harnessing those powers for good in addition to how cybersecurity compliance can help companies manage risk and innovate.
