Biography

Dr. Nicole Hayre, MD, is an award-winning board-certified dermatologist, speaker, and researcher. After studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), she received her Medical Degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. With a deep passion for research, she mapped an important gene, iNOS, while working in the lab of Merck Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Hayre then brought her expertise to the National Institutes of Health where she was part of the Human Genome Project.

In 2003, Dr. Hayre founded the Cosmetic Dermatology Center in McLean, Virginia, where her practice has consistently been awarded “Best Dermatology Practice in Northern Virginia.” Always the scientist, Dr. Hayre made the revolutionary discovery between the link of Oxytocin, the “love” hormone and skin. She observed changes in her patient's skin in response to their love lives, making the connection that skin appears to look better in response to positive social interaction, love, and affection. This eventually led to further research and her paper on the topic which was featured in the peer-reviewed Journal of Drugs in Dermatology and later named one of the top stories in 2021 in dermatology by Dermatology Times. Her research has appeared in other leading news resources for dermatologists as well.

Dr. Hayre founded EndoDerm Laboratories and used her research as the basis to invent her skincare line Cutocin. Formulated with a patented ingredient, Cutocin products mimic the effects of Oxytocin in the skin, resulting in a healthier, younger looking appearance. Recently, she has been featured in several notable beauty and health magazines, including Elle, Byrdie, Oprah Daily, and InStyle, among others.

Passion

My work which led me to the discovery of the Oxytocin Social Exchange System has become a true passion of mine. Although my work began with observations of how my patients' love lives correlated with the health of their skin, I am amazed at how far-reaching this concept is. For instance, the epidemic of anxiety and depression in our country can be linked to the use of smart phones. They have changed how people interact, and the resulting lack of true human to human interactions has left us all starved for oxytocin, which has in turn caused anxiety, loneliness and depression.

Best Story

I have always been a scientist at heart and enjoy figuring out how things work. After I realized that my patients' love lives correlated with the youthfulness of their skin, I ran an experiment to prove it. Yes, the "love glow" is real and is due to oxytocin! When I was writing up my data on my oxytocin research, I wondered why the body would waste energy to keep someone looking youthful. After more digging I found that every system in our bodies benefits from oxytocin. Then I had an epiphany... this is a system in itself! This is the Oxytocin Social Exchange System. This is a system ingrained in our bodies which connects our social interactions to our health and well-being.
