Biography

With over three decades in healthcare, I am passionate about positively impacting the world. After a personal health crisis, my focus changed to preventative care with the hope of decreasing the incidence of disabling and life-shortening chronic illnesses, filling my emergency department nightly. My mission is destroying the mythos of medical misinformation that drives many of these chronic illnesses and fighting a healthcare industry based on keeping people sick versus helping people gain optimal health. Having been blessed to have lectured across the United States and internationally using a unique style built from years of EMS, ER, and ICU night shifts across the world, I not only teach how to gain control of your health using evidence-based medicine but also resiliency and leadership lessons from "the head of the bed" - a position of confident authority every emergency room physician assumes to intervene in patients with critical illnesses. I firmly believe in the power of knowledge to change lives and support personal growth. I would love to share my unique blend of science, humor, and empathy with your organization.

The Remarkable Impact Of A Ketogenic Diet On Brain Health

Hippocrates said, "Let food be thy medicine, and medicine thy food." Today, we have a rapidly growing body of evidence-based medical research that supports the positive impact of the ketogenic diet on brain health.

Not only does the diet have general implications on multiple non-neurological chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and oncologic conditions, but it also has the power to cause a near-complete reversal of neurogenerative diseases like Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, and ALS. Recent research in 2024 demonstrates that the diet has even helped patients with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, who previously relied on polypharmacy with terrible side effects.

As more mainstream physicians turn to the power of nutrition to improve previously incurable diseases, we must explore the science behind "the metabolic mind" where diet replaces pharmaceuticals. It's time to recognize the power of food as medicine and embrace this revolutionary approach to health.

Cutting Your Nose Off Despite Your Face: How Corporate Sponsorship Affects Research Ethics and Validity

Innovation in food science and nutrition is to be celebrated, but it's alarming that many people question the validity of scientific research. This skepticism has led to doubts about the reliability and credibility of scientific research, and people are worried that most research is false and untrustworthy. This fear is not entirely unfounded, given the increasing reports of research bias, deception, and misconduct.

This presentation focuses on corporate-sponsored food and nutrition science research's quality, reliability, and transparency. We will discuss research sponsorship and grant transparency, the impact of negative media response to corporate sponsorship, research credibility, and how to assess the quality of research articles. Negative media coverage of corporate sponsorship can erase scientists' good intentions and fuel public skepticism and distrust of scientific research.

It's critical to address the issue of research credibility and ensure that research studies are conducted unbiased and transparently. By doing so, we can ensure that scientific research remains a reliable source of information and innovation for society. We must take action to prevent the loss of trust in scientific research, and this starts with the transparent and ethical conduct of research studies.
