After six years in high school, my son graduated from high school to nothing. All the job training he'd done during his years in school were washed away. No one told me the dirty secret: that employers are often unable or unwilling to hire neurodivergent individuals. My 21-year-old son could not find work. Anger doesn't begin to describe how I felt. But instead of stewing in the unjustness of the situation, I decided to take action. I'm a brilliant communicator. Not only could I write blogs and articles on autism, I could share our story and the stories of others with unique adult children on the spectrum. Thus, NicoleGSpeaks was born. As a longtime Toastmaster, I speak publicly about autism, mental health, and power of storytelling. Check out my TEDx.
