Origin Story

When I started my career as a software engineer in Telecommunications, it wasn't surprising to be the only woman in the room and my ah moment... was learning this hasn't changed. During the last 20 years, the number of women with engineering degrees has declined. In 1984, thirty-seven percent of engineering degrees were awarded to women, 1994, ten years later the number of women in engineering dropped to twenty-eight percent. In 2016, only twenty percent of engineering degrees are awarded to women and worse only 13% of the engineering workforce is women. What happened and how do we change this? My mission to encourage and help women achieve success in STEM.
