Best Story

On a recent trip to South Beach Miami, I was feeling very self-conscious and like I didn't fit in. I decided to quiet those inner voices and said so what, I am going to go out and have fun. I ended up in the hotel bar at the end of the night, and started speaking to the bartender about the book I was writing. Suddenly, I was the popular interesting person in the bar with everyone wanting to know more about me. What a mindset shift.

Origin Story

I was working as a chemical engineer and had a job I thought I loved. My boss retired, and a new guy took over. We got along ok, yet I didn't agree with many of his decisions or his values. I was still very successful and was the highest ranking technical woman in the company with the largest customers. One day I drove four hours to a two-day meeting. When I went to check into the hotel, my room had been cancelled. I met with my boss and I was fired and told I would be paid until the end of the day. Who does that? I was angry, terrified, felt like a failure and was almost 60 years old. The drive home started out horrible. Then about halfway home, the though "I don't have to go to work tomorrow" popped into my head and I felt instantly lighter and joyful. I decided right then that I would never again put my success and happiness in someone else's hands and vowed to make my life more meaningful. That led me to writing a book and coaching to bring more joy to the world.
