Diana Machado Ciruolo is a mother of two neurospicy kids, a DEI educator and a social justice advocate. Her experiences growing up on the outside as a foster kid with neurodiversity have given her a unique understanding of humanness that informs her practice and her life. Di’s passion is freeing other humans from the guilt and self-harm that can come from trauma and loss and she has a love/hate relationship with public speaking.
Foster Care, Neurodiversity, Parenting, Motherhood, Tech, Women in Tech, Neurodiversity in Tech, Neurodiversity in Biotech,
I went to the Aerosmith concert in 2012 and as the band goes off stage to take a break, the screen on stage starts playing the Guitar Hero video game. Then it shows Joe Perry as himself in the video game. Suddenly, Joe Perry comes out on stage and tells the crowd "every week, some stupid kid comes up to me and tells me he beat me at this stupid game..." then he does an absolutely insane guitar solo for what must've been 5 full minutes. The audience is going crazy. At the end of which Joe Perry looks out into the crowd and declares "I'm the bleeping guitar hero!" And then he just walks offstage. I also met Jane Goodall, but that's a different story.
I grew up in the Massachusetts Foster Care System in and out of abusive homes because adhd makes your harder to place, upon aging out I became homeless. I moved across the country to Atlanta to survive, and there in a warmer, kinder city; I found myself and my spark.
