Biography

Lena Scullard is a keynote speaker, emcee, and emotional intelligence trainer who empowers professionals to own their mindset and their choices to create meaningful results. With more than 20 years in hospitality and leadership—and over a decade in learning and development—she has built her reputation as a performance consultant, curriculum designer, and dynamic facilitator. Lena holds certifications in DiSC, FranklinCovey, and instructional design from the Bob Pike Group. Her programs help individuals strengthen communication, resilience, and relationships—driving engagement and elevating outcomes across industries.

Passion

Lena lives for the “aha!” moments—when someone realizes they can choose how they show up, even in hard situations. She’s passionate about bringing emotional intelligence into real-world, high-pressure environments where people are often overwhelmed and undervalued. And as a lifelong performer—whether on stage, behind a mic, or singing karaoke—Lena finds joy in creating energy, connection, and experiences that stick. Whether she's training leaders or emceeing an event, she brings presence, purpose, and a bit of character to every room.

Best Story

Lena grew up hearing she had “so much potential”—and she believed it. She did what she was told would lead to success: went to college, got the degree, followed the rules. But after graduation, the promised path wasn’t there. No callbacks. No interviews. Just rejection and bills. For years, she stayed in the same customer service job she took as a freshman, growing increasingly angry, bitter, and hopeless. The ladder she was told to climb had no rungs within reach. Eventually, a conversation with her leaders—one that could have ended in being fired—instead gave her a rare gift: a choice. That one moment cracked open a door. She stepped through, and everything changed. From substitute teaching to leadership, from training others to speaking on global stages, Lena found what was missing: purpose. Now, she helps others discover that when the path you were promised disappears, you can build a new one—starting with the power to choose.

Origin Story

Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 8 years old, Lena learned early that life doesn’t always go according to plan—and that mindset and personal responsibility are everything. Navigating chronic illness helped her develop resilience, emotional awareness, and a deep empathy for others facing unseen battles. Combined with her theater-kid heart and impulsive, people-pleasing tendencies, she became fascinated with what drives human behavior. After years in hospitality leadership, she found her calling in training—helping others build confidence, communication skills, and the ability to respond with intention, even under pressure.

iDEAL Interactions: Understand and Adapt to Fundamental Human Differences

Have you ever wondered why there are some people in your life that just rub you the wrong way? You can't even put your finger on it, but when you are around them or working with them you just feel...."grrrr!" Guess what? There is a reason! And it's likely just a difference in fundamental human behavior.

There are countless behavior models out there with expensive assessments that are supposed to help groups come together, but often end up fueling divide.

Level Up Leadership: Lead Others to the Next Level

Do you know the difference between leading people and managing a team or business? Do you know how to motivate and influence those around you to want to do more, be more, and give more?

The greatest leaders are able to do this through servant leadership. The concept of servant leadership has been a foundation for Lena throughout her career, even before she really knew what it was. It’s not about being “the boss,” or simply driving results; it’s about connecting with people first! When people come first, improvement of outcomes, goals, and the bottom line are the natural result.

So how do you begin putting people first? Well, first you have to understand who you are and what kind of leader you want to be. Then you have to learn about your people, who they are and where they are at. Level Up Leadership will show you how to do just that. Lena goes back to the basics of fundamental human needs, to show leaders how to pull those around them up to the next level, one level at a time.
