I once had a toxic boss who didn't want me on her team but couldn't find a reason to get rid of me because I performed my job with excellence, and many of her colleagues loved me. She did everything she could to make my job miserable, even stripping me of my primary Executive responsibilities and giving me lower-level tasks. What she didn't realize was that the lower tasks gave me more access to her peers and freed me up for more time to network outside of our department, which led me to a better position while she was eventually fired. The moral of the story is trying to undermine someone else's progress usually leads to the demise of our own.
I grew up in a very large, loving family that taught me to respect everyone, regardless of social status or color of skin. I believe this is the kindness the world is lacking today. These guiding principles are also why I am embraced by a variety of audiences.
