With interests ranging from ethical hacking, generative AI, to leadership style dynamics, this 50-year-old has embarked on a powerful cybersecurity journey. Santina has completed TCM Security’s Practical Ethical Hacking course and is now preparing to take the SANS SEC545 course on GenAI & LLM Application Security within the next month.
Her cyber blog, Santina's Technical Tebibits, is her platform for storytelling—turning technical know-how into relatable gems with a dash of ‘80s flair. Santina holds a bachelor’s in Information Systems and Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a master’s in Management and Leadership, and a Threat Detection certification from Webster University.
With over 19 years of service as an Air Force veteran and government civilian, she’s got layers of experience. Follow her on LinkedIn for her ongoing cybersecurity journey!
Santina’s heart is all about people. Her dedication shines through in every volunteer role she takes on with cybersecurity groups, always lifting others to grow and achieve. Her 93-year-old grandmother Virginia once smiled and told her, “You sure love making people laugh.” And it’s true—Santina leads with positivity, balancing assertiveness with genuine warmth. Beyond tech, she’s also a talented freehand sketch artist and poet—just don’t let it slip that dancing isn’t quite her forte!
Santina’s father, gone for some time now, left a profound legacy. He wasn’t just an effective leader—he was a man who loved celebrating people. Whether mentoring a future astronaut or children affected by hardship, he made others feel valued in everyday ways. Sandra, Santina’s cousin who recently passed, had that same gift—leaving Santina feeling seen and loved. Even now, Santina wants to be like her dad—and like Sandra—carrying forward that joy, positivity, and love for others. Oh, and she’ll admit it—dancing might not be her thing, but the laughter and warmth she brings? That’s what she holds dearest.
With my father’s steadfast support, I have persevered against the odds. His firm guidance nurtured my affinity for computers and mathematics. In childhood, I grappled with a speech impediment and faced challenges at school. One year, I found myself in so much trouble that I spent the entire summer on restriction, immersed in Highlights magazines and fourth through ninth grade mathematics textbooks—despite being only a third grader. While reading was a delight, mathematics became my passion. I excelled in standardized state and national testing, earning recognition from my school. Today, I embark on a career in Cybersecurity and public speaking. It is remarkable to reflect that I was once a girl who was bullied for saying “mutter” instead of “mother.” Often, our greatest struggles evolve into our strengths. Public speaking has continually returned to me. Though I once explored stand-up comedy, I am now a speaker who enjoys exploring AI and Cybersecurity topics..
