I speak for the exposure for myself and my company
I was a working mom and had started a new role 6 months before. When I noticed that my employer paid for a MBA degree I knew I wanted to pursue it but kept talking myself out of it. I thought that as a mom I would never be able work full time, care for my family and attain a MBA degree!
A colleague came by to say hello and when I mentioned what I was thinking, she asked "how long will it take you to get the MBA degree?" I replied 3 years. She shrugged her shoulders and said, "well that will be 2014. 2014 is coming any way. You can have an MBA in 2014 or not have one! If you know it's coming, why not just get the degree?"
It made sense and her approach was simple enough. I applied, got accepted and enrolled. 3 years later I graduated in 2014 with a proud 4 year old and another baby on the way! She was right, I was getting in my own way and since 2014 was coming anyway, I strolled (or waddled) into that year with an MBA!
I am the product of West Indian parents, a Christian home and and public education. I realized very early on in life that I enjoy helping others. I think this has brought me to where I am in life!
