Biography

Leslie Ellis is an executive change advisor and keynote speaker who helps leaders raise the probability of success in complex, high-stakes change.
As CEO of Meaningful Change Consulting, Leslie works with senior leadership teams navigating enterprise transformation, culture change, reinvention, and moments where the cost of getting change wrong is significant. Her work focuses on what most organizations underestimate: leadership alignment, decision-making, and the conditions required before execution begins.
With over 20 years of experience, Leslie has supported more than 55 organizations across 42 countries, impacting over 900,000 stakeholders globally. She is frequently brought in when change is stalled, fragmented, or at risk — or when leaders want to avoid those outcomes altogether by setting change up for success from the start.
Leslie brings a rare blend of strategic advisory, executive coaching, and practical change leadership experience to the stage. Her speaking challenges common assumptions about resistance, speed, and execution, and equips leaders with clearer ways of thinking, deciding, and leading through complexity.
She is a member of the Forbes Business Council, a Certified Change Management Professional, and a Certified Reinvention Practitioner.

Best Story

Recently, Leslie was asked to advise an HR team mid-transformation, and the effort was in trouble. Frustration was high, priorities and accountability had blurred, and leaders were losing confidence. Instead of layering on another “plan,” Leslie led them through a Change RESET™ — uncovering where alignment had fractured and where leadership needed to re-engage.

She reframed the work from a tactical implementation to a strategic reset, helping executives reconnect the transformation’s purpose to business outcomes. With a renewed sense of ownership, the HR team clarified roles, reactivated momentum, and regained credibility across the organization.

The lesson: you can’t rescue what was never set up for success — but you can reset it. By realigning leadership and purpose, Leslie helped them turn fatigue into focus and a stalled change into a story of recovery and renewed trust.

Origin Story

Leslie Ellis never set out to be an entrepreneur. In fact, she calls herself an accidental one. After a corporate layoff, she began consulting independently—first as staff augmentation, then as the founder of Meaningful Change Consulting. What began as a necessity became a revelation.

She saw something most leaders didn’t: despite well-executed change plans—detailed communications, stakeholder engagement, training—organizations were still reworking, re-explaining, and restarting change efforts. “Why,” she wondered, “are we doing all this work just to ‘check the box’?”

The answer became her obsession. Over and over, Leslie noticed that executive leaders delegated change rather than led it. They approved the plan, then handed it off to teams below them—leaving a critical leadership vacuum. That gap, she realized, was the real reason so many “successful” initiatives quietly failed to take hold.

Then came the turning point. Former executives began calling her back to “rescue” broken change efforts. Leslie leaned in, determined not just to fix them, but to understand what made some changes rescuable—and others that needed a full reset. Through that work, she discovered a pattern: every successful transformation required alignment, not just activity. Change happens in layers across an organization, and sustainable results come only when alignment happens across those layers.

That insight became the foundation for her signature methods: Layered Alignment™, Change Rescue™, and the concept of Strategic Tension™—the purposeful gap between current state and future state that fuels clarity, urgency, and progress.

Today, Leslie is known as both a truth-teller and a trusted guide. Her message to executives is clear: change leadership is not optional—it’s a strategic discipline. Without it, organizations may survive, but they won’t thrive in the accelerating pace of disruption.

Her mission now is to redefine how organizations “do” change. Through her speaking, advisory, and capability-building work, she helps leaders design change that is intentional, aligned, and sustainable. When her work succeeds, change stops being a one-time project and becomes a continuous leadership capability—one that turns chaos into coherence and ambition into results.
In short, Leslie helps leaders stop managing change and start mastering it.
