The concept of our show
This show is for those who are seekers and look outside the conventional. Health can be lost and it can be found. The intent is to cover a broad range of topics - health and wellness is physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, financial, relational, and very individual.
Health, science, epigenetics, research, nutrition, living a BIG life, guiding people to live well so they can do BIG things in life, empowering women with the knowledge that they have the power to create health today, tomorrow, and for generations by addressing health concerns and preparing for conception. Health today can affect the health of 7 generations in the future...beautiful!!
Understanding food and epigenetics has been a guiding force in my practice and my direction.
Food is a language that communicates with cells and DNA - healthy food that can be broken down properly by the body is utilized and the body knows what to do.
Unhealthy toxic food sends an unclear line of communication to cells and DNA creating confusion.
This sends out red flags initiating a cell danger response which can begin the process of inflammation leading to symptoms (including fertility struggles) leading to dis-ease – which of course can exacerbate fertility struggles.
Epigenetics and how genes are expressed, and what controls our epigenome is our lifestyle!
Food, movement, stress, sleep, trauma, toxins – all can control how our genes are expressed. What this means is we each have an amazing amount of control over our genetic destiny!!
My time as a functional nutritionist has led me in beautifully unexpected directions. Historically, most of my practice has been working with people with GI dysfunction and autoimmune conditions. But I saw a pattern – many of the women wanted to find balance and eliminate symptoms because they knew they wanted to start or grow their family.
With my own history, and my experience with clients, this has led me to create SoulFull Conception: PurposeFull Living for a Health Body, a Healthy Pregnancy, and a Healthy Baby.
Women who made five or more lifestyle changes reduced their infertility risk by a whopping 80%!
This Preconception Planning program is a transformative program designed to help women and their spouse achieve optimal health so that when it’s time to try for a family, they are not only prepared but have a plan of action for the health of the couple and their baby.
The most amazing thing about ensuring your health is the most optimal today, is you have the ability to impact the health of SEVEN generations to come! Think about that for a while!!
Reflecting back on my life journey to discovering my passion and purpose allows me to recognize the gifts I received along the way.
I had chronic pain with no understanding of what it was or why it started.
I thought to myself: “There must be an answer!"
So, I started looking for support. I was tired of merely existing and surviving. I was willing to do whatever it took to get answers, even as scary as it was.
I started digging for the truth. I researched and experienced many modalities in healing. I learned to advocate for myself. I saw multiple doctors, neurologists, ophthalmologists, naturopathic docs, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and dentists. I did scans and MRIs. I took supplements, did fasts and cleanses…you name it, I did it.
As difficult as it was, I’m grateful for the experience.
My digging not only led me to understand the cause of the pain, but I found more answers that I didn’t know I needed. My pain was a symptom of a bigger problem. I was stressed, frustrated with my work, and I felt like I was floundering with no real purpose. Although I didn’t know what my purpose was, something deep inside me knew that I was created to live large and thrive in a life I loved.
As life continued, my jobs changed. I was working my way up the ladder in Corporate America, pursuing success that promised me happiness, but I still felt lost and unsure. Why was I put here in the world? What am I good at? Where can I really make an impact and feel fulfilled?
I had coffee with a friend, and we started chatting about health. He told me he was going to nutrition school. I remember so vividly how I felt – a little envious. I think I said out loud – “that’s so amazing! I’ll never have time to do something like that.”
I felt drawn to it, but I didn’t believe I could make the change, and I couldn’t give myself permission to move away from what I thought was stability.
Then it happened – I was laid off.
I was heartbroken, confused, angry, frustrated – why was I not good enough? I felt even more unsure about where my place was and what was for me. About a week into my pity party, it came to me – nutrition school!!
At that point there was no thinking. It was excitement and passion, and I went full steam ahead. I was being led. I knew I had a mission.
That’s why I do the work I do. I don’t want anyone to have to struggle with not having answers and continue to live in pain, struggle, and mere existence. I want them to enjoy amazing health so they can live out their incredible life, giving all they are meant to give to this world.
I like to think of myself as a detective. I will do whatever it takes to discover the root cause of pain, discomfort, or disease.
