Biography

Originally from Venezuela, Ana Karina Da Silva is an award-winning advertising Associate Creative Director based in Chicago. After 11+ years of working for 500 top Fortune brands and 30+ awards in creativity, Ana Karina decided to write and illustrate Emma’s Dream, a bilingual book that encourages kids to not forget their dreams. Ana toured her book in Europe, México, and Chicago by reading, singing, and interacting with kids about their passions, proving that story time can be a powerful tool for their self-esteem and development.

After two years working for the ad agency DDB in Caracas, Ana Karina moved to Chicago to hone her copywriting craft at the Chicago Portfolio School. After graduating, she landed an internship at her dream agency Lapiz-Leo Burnett, the headquarter of one of the most important ad agencies in the world. She quickly showed her talent winning five awards as an intern and climbing her way up creating all kinds of integrated campaigns that include social, traditional, OOH, activations, launches, openings, rebranding, digital, content, and branded experiences for a broad range of industries. In 2017, she and her team created the “Tequila Cloud” to promote the Mexico Tourism Board in Germany. The innovative idea spread like wildfire going viral in the US and globally. It sparked half a billion impressions with just 60k media buy. The Tequila Cloud not only brought science and art together but also a silver Cannes Lions and the most impressions for a campaign ever garnered by the agency and the client.

Before that, she developed campaigns for Disney, Kraft, Lunchables, Kool-Aid, Capri Sun, and USTA and helped win the Olive Garden business at Mcgarrybowen.

Then, she brought her creativity and expanded her business experience working for fluent360, a multicultural agency with clients like the US Army, Nissan, INFINITI, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and Spectrum, pushing the creative boundaries of all teams by helping bring the mindset that good work can happen no matter the assignment. She’s also helping lead the social media team of the agency, bringing strategy and creativity to revamp the agency’s presence across platforms.

Her creativity didn’t stop at the doors of the agency. Ana Karina created Closet Therapy, a fashion account that helped her find herself through fashion. Yeah, superficially deep. On Instagram and Youtube Channel Ana created episodes to help her audience shop what they already had in their closets. Through fashion tips, interviews, and advice she spread the message on how to be more conscious about what people owned. She extended her passion project to the Latin Grammys, Premios Tu Mundo, Cannes Lions Festival, and Vogue’s Forces of Fashion, interviewing celebrities like J Balvin, Steve Aoki, Global Editor for Vogue Hamish Bowles, Wyclef Jean, and Refinery 21 co-founder Piera Gelardi.

Ana has collaborated in partnerships with Rebecca Minkoff, Buchanan’s, Tao, Verizon, and Schwarzkopf among others. She also launched a limited shoe collection in one of the most prestigious stores in Lima, Peru. Ana Karina has used her marketing acumen to help bring her ideas to life, pushing the boundaries of what can be done and what can’t.

After 4 years as a fashion blogger, Ana started taking comedy writing classes at Second City and Improv Olympics, wrote two TV pilots, and made a table read with Hollywood directors and actors. After being on social media consistently, and attending events, dinners, and fashion shows, Ana was happy to let go of the fashion blogging phase to explore new endeavors.

In 2022, Ana starts a new chapter at Doner as an Associate Creative Director for Johnsons and Johnsons, Zyrtec, McDonald’s, Pepcid, and Tylenol. In March 2022, Ana launches her first children’s book in Chicago and tours elementary schools in different cities in Europe, Mexico, and the US.

Best Story

I won a Cannes Lions in France because of my idea in advertising to promote Mexico Tourism Board. I created a Tequila Cloud, a real cloud that recreated the three cycles of a real cloud. If you google it, it has 80 millions of results! It was the most famous idea of the agency at Lapiz, Leo Burnett. It was covered by 80 media outlets in the US and the rest of the world. It went Viral, even Chelsea tweeted about it. This was my big dream and after I made it come true, I felt so amazing that I wrote a bilingual children's book about it called "Emma's Dream" and I travelled to 7 countries to promote it. I developed a workshop to help kids remember their dreams when they grow up.

Origin Story

I've been in advertising as a creative for 14 years. I'm from Venezuela, I came here to conquer the world of advertising and I did! After I made my biggest dream come true, which was to win that Cannes, I felt so amazing that I wrote a Children's book about it. It's called Emma's Dream. You can look it up on Amazon. I went to 6 countries and read it to more than 1000 kids. I realized that kids know what they want but they forget when growing up. So, now I'm developing a program for parents so they can learn how to help their kids make their dreams come true.
