As Executive Vice President of Integrated Creative Strategy, Dixie has spent the last 8 years at HangarFour overseeing digital content, campaign and influencer strategy for a wide range of clients including National Geographic, Indeed, BRAGG Live Foods, Princess Cruises and Oracle. Notable career mentions include launching the L’Oreal League, a premier influencer program for L’Oréal Paris, launching eyewear brand, Zenni into the Esports arena, helming the digital rebrand of ‘90s darling, Caboodles, and building the award-winning “Soundtrack of Empathy” campaign with pop superstar, MIKA.
Before joining HangarFour, Dixie spent 3 years as a copywriter at Warby Parker – her time coincided with the brand’s rise to become one of the country’s best recognized retail startups, propelled in no small part by its creative approach to the digital space.
Dixie is also one of HangarFour’s most multi-talented professionals, having spent 5 years as a professional opera singer. She holds a M.M in Music Performance from Wichita State University and a BFA in Music Theater Performance from Viterbo University.
When not hiking and camping with her family in the mountains of Colorado, her favorite form of cardio is chasing around her very busy toddler, Jack Dennis.
It's my job to wrap my head and creative thinking around how multiple creative properties can collaborate to create the most exciting and impactful campaigns possible. This includes all things social media, new platforms, new trends, the new and next great influencers, how to bring it all together to create big, exciting integrated marketing campaigns and most importantly, how to educating and mentoring the next generation of creative marketers.
Our agency was staffing a benefit for a non-profit client, a big concert full of absolutely iconic stars. My team was working very much behind the scenes, managing social conversation and content but the video team would be on the carpet and at the last moment, asked if anyone would feel comfortable being the mouthpiece asking interview questions to each of the performers as they walked the carpet. I had no idea what this would entail but the performer in me raised her hand and before I knew it I was on the carpet with a mic, approaching one of my childhood idols (dating myself?) Ann Wilson from Heart. It's a moment I'll never forget, she was so gracious and her performance was absolutely incredible. I would have been behind my laptop in my Queens apartment retweeting content had I not raised my hand that day. Don't doubt yourself, don't doubt your talent or your ability to rise to the occasion, stepping outside your comfort zone. Who knows you might just meet (insert childhood hero here).
It's not a secret that my degrees (both of them) are in music and performance. In fact, my forever fun fact is that before I began my career in Marketing, I was a professional opera singer. It's why I moved to New York City! What started as a side hustle, copywriting between singing gigs, much of which was for social media and long form blog/web content, became a passion I decided to pursue. I spent a lot of my early career carefully curating my resume to hide my "lack" of traditional marketing experience only to realize a few years in that my education and experience on stage prepared me better for my career than a more traditional path ever would. In fact, I wrote an entire Medium piece about it!
