Best Story

My best story is when I traveled with friends to Zambia and Malawi. And unfortunately, one friend got Malaria and had to stay in the hospital. So we decided just to cross the border for a day trip to Malawi. Right after crossing, we saw a big billboard of the Malawi lake and decided to take a taxi to get there without considering that it was in the middle of the county. It didn't cross our minds that there won't be an ATM. Not knowing how to get back with just a few $ and the night approaching. We had to find a way to inform our friends that we were safe. A local allowed us to upload a bit of money on his cell phone and call our parents in Germany, that then could inform our friend in Zambia. Of course, no one picked up. But a few hours later, the guy came running across the village with his phone, excited about receiving a call from Germany. He was the one that was helping us out. Nonetheless, his humble approach and kindness lifted the entire experience and turned it into an intercultural exchange I will never forget. We ended up sleeping on a floor of some locales that helped us out. And make our way back by local transportation the next day. What took us before just about 1.5 hours took us that day 14 hours. It is a trip I will never forget because it showed how beautiful difficult situations could be when we approach them with kindness and curiosity.

I would like to hand this in at a later stage. It is too long.
