You’ve settled into life with your soul mate and now you’ve completely empty nested, so you follow your calling and start a business.
And at the same time, you became a first-time grandparent to a wonderful little girl. It’s an awesome and adventurous time.
Fast forward a bit and your granddaughter’s world becomes topsy turvy and it turns out that the environment she is being raised in does not serve her development and growth. You do what you can to help and eventually end up having to make a decision that will not only affect you and your business in the short term, but for the long term and potentially for the rest of your life.
This was my life in the early years of business. When our granddaughter Isis was almost 3, circumstances were such that her mother left. As the first few months went by, it became clear that for this little girl, a decision needed to be made as to what was going to serve her best. At this point we made the decision to fully take her in, be there for her, and stand for her until she became an adult and could take a stand for herself. We ended up adopting her and today, she is our granddaughter-daughter whom we love dearly and is an integral joyful part of our life.
Every decision we make, big or small, sends us on a journey. A journey that you can only guess where it may lead. Our decision with Isis sent us on a wild ride. We navigated the challenges of raising this beautiful girl who came to us with some special needs. Along our journey with Isis, we dealt with the topsy turvy world she came from and the perceptions, opinions, and repercussions that came from taking a stand counter to what others thought was best. As the main part of the journey came to a close, it became clear that it was the correct journey and path to take.
In hindsight, it was a decision made in the highest and best interest of all, guided by source and fulfilled by us.
Little did I know when we started our journey with Isis that it would be my training ground in higher service to my clients. To not take things personally, bring in higher guidance, and the ability to be there with them through thick and thin. To help them dance with their dark dragons (shadows), hold their vision for them, and see the light at the end of their tunnel. To help them develop resilience and grow their business regardless of the circumstances. To ultimately launch them towards a business and life that lights them up with the strength to continue their journey into the future no matter the challenges that arise.
After 18 years in the corporate world while working as a business analyst, facilitator and mediator in a fortune 500 and 1000 companies, I discovered that I am an entrepreneur/business owner at heart (they just didn’t know what “box” I fit into, because I didn’t😉). So in 2002 I began my journey in business and became a young first time grandmother (later to become mom to my granddaughter).
Now more than 20 years later as an entrepreneur who came from a tumultuous background, I know first-hand the journey to building a holistic business out of muck and standing in the fullness of who you are. A business that enables you to Live and Lead Authentically with Heart. Because business is never really just about business.
