Best Story

✨As an event professional, I had one of the world's most exhilarating jobs. I traveled worldwide, experiencing new cultures, meeting people, and building fabulous human-centered experiences. Often friends, family, and coworkers were envious of this seemingly glamorous lifestyle. I have lots of stories!!!

✨But, waking up post-pandemic, the world had changed. I had changed. The lines of work and life seemed to have blended, and something was off for me. Looking back, I was exhausted from years of cumulative stress, burnt out, and needed a break, time to reset.

✨I took a huge risk and joined the Great Resignation without a job, plan B, or an income. I quit. But life has a strange way of telling you to pay attention because shortly after that, things took an unexpected turn, with a life-changing year that led me on an unexpected journey.

Origin Story

My first job was selling shoes in the mall. I learned quickly that the more shoes I sold, the more commissions I could make, and I soon became the region's highest-paid employee. I was 14. This may be when my love for shoes started! Fast forward, with a degree in Clothing and Textile Design, I was going to be a buyer but decided to work for a tech company instead. I eventually ended up in sales, where I learned how to identify and solve customer problems. And guess what? They would buy from me! I started leading sales teams and, eventually, ran global sales and marketing moving up the corporate ladder. I lived in Massachusetts but worked in Silicon Valley, where technology was thriving, and I loved it. Until one day, someone quit, and the company's President asked me to help him figure out how to bring the sales organization together. A year later, I was hooked on a feeling after producing my first multiday event of 3,000. I saw the impact events had on how people felt, which was amazing and powerful. I realized that when we make people feel something, we can drive behavior and change the world. That reluctant "Yes" was the beginning of something incredible for me and my career.

The Intersection of Leadership and Wellness

Let’s face it, being a leader today comes with increasing responsibilities, thus requiring a new skill set. As we recover from a global pandemic, the great resignation, and mass layoffs, while taking on more work and struggling with global economic pressures, leading is just plain hard. The remote workforce brought us tremendous flexibility in work-life integration, but it’s created a level of loneliness and isolation, causing our stress levels to rise. Our work relationships, especially with our manager, directly influence our mental, physical, and psychological well-being. As leaders, we need to take care of ourselves and model the right behaviors for our employees by intentionally putting empathy, social connection, and well-being at the heart of how we lead, live and work. I am passionate about the intersection of leadership and wellness and helping teams realize the critical skills related to achieving more health at work and home. I have lived it and would love to share my stories and learnings with you for more well-being at work.
