I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the middle of earning my doctorate degree and slowly losing my ability to walk. Although the journey required an adjustment, I persevered and adopted an attitude that setbacks will happen but your perspective matters. I continued to work full time, raise a family, complete the requirements for my degree and completed treatments for my MS. I share my story to inspire others to face their adversities with a positive attitude. My journey to doctor did not end the way I expected but I learned I was stronger than I ever thought I could be.
I was raised by a single mother with the help of my grandfather. My childhood dream was to become a doctor. I was told I could never be a doctor but although I didn't become a medical doctor, I fulfilled the dream of being a doctor.
