Origin Story

Christy Greenleaf: A Survivor, Advocate, and Professional Chaos Wrangler

Picture this: A bright-eyed, freshly graduated elementary school teacher, Christy Greenleaf, diving headfirst into the world of sticky-fingered children and crayon-smudged lesson plans. Teaching was her dream until life, in all its unpredictable glory, rewrote the script. After raising two kids of her own, blending families with her now-husband, and becoming a proud mom of four, Christy traded classrooms for boardrooms, stumbling into a career in disability insurance with the same mix of curiosity and sheer determination that fueled her PTA bake sales (of note: Christy is NOT a baker BUT she is very familiar with the local fire department!!)

Life threw its share of curveballs, but nothing could prepare her for the plot twist in 2019: breast cancer. What started as a routine mammogram turned into a journey no one would choose but one that Christy navigated with resilience, grace, and, of course, humor. She faced 18 months of grueling treatment, including a double mastectomy, chemo, radiation, surgeries, and more surgeries, and enough side effects to make her the medical equivalent of a unicorn—literally she was a unicorn and only had one breast for a while-her husband loving called her his "one headlight!" She is literally the 1% on every warning label. If it could go wrong, it did. And just to up the ante, her husband was diagnosed with colon cancer during her fight, because why not double down on the chaos?

But cancer didn’t just knock her down; it also lit a fire. Christy emerged as an unflinching advocate for self-care, early detection, and survivorship. With her website, Reel In Your Crazy, she turned her knack for connection, humor, and storytelling into a platform where resilience meets real talk. She speaks candidly about the mental, emotional, and physical aftermath of cancer, from body dysmorphia and intimacy struggles to why chemo, menopause, and hair loss walking into a bar sounds like the beginning of a darkly funny TED Talk.

Christy’s story is about finding strength in the most unexpected places—whether that’s in the depths of a doctor’s waiting room, the heartache of blending families, or the quiet moments of connection over a cup of tea. She’s not just a survivor; she’s a thriver, mentor, and speaker who challenges audiences to see humor in the hard stuff and find connection in their messiest moments.

Whether advocating for routine screenings, mentoring through the Dempsey Center, or speaking about the importance of returning to work after life-altering events, Christy’s message is clear: life is messy, unpredictable, and sometimes downright hilarious—and that’s exactly why it’s worth showing up for.

Example Talks

REEL in Your Crazy: Stop Playing Small & Stand Out

This session isn’t about perfection. It’s about permission. Permission to be yourself. To be loud. To be quiet. To take up space. To own your voice.

For years, I tried to “have it all together” until I realized the real power move was being unapologetically myself. Through cancer, career shifts, and life’s unexpected plot twists, I learned that the strongest, most magnetic version of you is the one that’s REAL.

Expect real talk, laughs, and mic-drop moments that will leave you feeling empowered, clear, and ready to step into every room as the FULL version of you. If you’re tired of shrinking, second-guessing, or over-editing yourself, this is your wake-up call: The world needs your crazy, your truth, and your fire.

Let’s REEL it in and RISE together.

Redefining Survivorship & Breaking Barriers

Surviving breast cancer is one thing—thriving after it is another. When I became the first mother-daughter duo in USOA Maine pageant history, I proved that survivorship isn’t about just staying alive—it’s about living boldly, unapologetically, and on your own terms. I use my platform to show women that no matter what they’ve been through, they are worthy of taking up space, rewriting their narrative, and stepping into their next chapter with power.

Empowering Women to Take Up Space & Own Their Power

Whether it’s surviving cancer, breaking barriers, or rewriting their own story, I want women to stop playing small and start standing in their full, unapologetic power. Through bold, raw, and real conversations, I help women break free from self-doubt, silence, and the pressure to shrink themselves—because the world doesn’t need another woman dimming her light. It needs the whole damn masterpiece.

Revolutionizing the Breast Cancer Experience

I’m on a mission to shatter the silence around breast cancer, survivorship, and women’s health. I want to rip the pink ribbon off the sugarcoated version of this disease and give women the raw, unfiltered truth—so no one has to navigate diagnosis, treatment, or life beyond cancer feeling lost, rushed, or unheard. I help survivors move from overwhelmed and afraid to informed, confident, and fully in control of their journey.
