Hear Me Roar (Quietly!)
For years, "hardworking" and "diligent" were the only words my managers used for me. I wore them like badges. I actually believed hard work alone would get me up the corporate ladder. Every year, I checked the promotion list. Every year, my name wasn't on it.
Then a coworker I had personally trained, someone less competent, less knowledgeable, got promoted over me. That broke something open. Weeks of resentment and self-doubt followed. Then one thought cut through: no one was coming to rescue me. I'd have to do it myself.
So I did. I buried myself in self-help books, hunting for my blind spots. Slowly, I started finding my voice.
Around that time, a new, ambitious colleague asked me to lunch. She wanted the lay of the land. She asked how long I'd been there and what my title was. I hesitated, then answered almost in a whisper.
"Wow," she said. "Only that, after a decade?"
I felt the heat of shame rise in my face. She wasn't being cruel. She was being honest. To anyone who didn't already know my skills and my worth, I looked like someone who didn't care about getting ahead. But I did care. I cared enormously. I had just been settling for invisible instead of asking for what I'd earned.
That lunch was the turning point. I stopped shrinking and started rewriting my professional story, on purpose, out loud. The promotions came. The title changed. I never looked back.
Now I teach that same method to leaders across the corporate world: how to stop whispering your worth and start owning it.
"I was feeling miserable when I called you, and I feel so much lighter now." I heard some version of this constantly from colleagues. I'd watch someone walk into a meeting and speak with real confidence, minutes after a pep talk had pulled them back from feeling small and hopeless.
Testimonial after testimonial, a pattern became impossible to ignore. I had a gift for guidance, for finding the silver lining, for shifting how people saw their own situation, and for turning that shift into action.
Here's the twist: most of that confidence-boosting happened while I was in the middle of rebuilding myself, questioning my own beliefs, becoming a better version of me. A growth mindset, an obsession with personal development, and a relentless focus on the next actionable step got me through obstacle after obstacle. Not every experiment worked. But I kept the lessons from the ones that failed, and I still lean on them today.
Now I share that same superpower with people who need to hear that they matter and that they have the power to change their own trajectory. My clients and audiences leave knowing one thing: the road to meaning and success starts with clearing the clutter and chaos out of your own head. I hand them a proven roadmap to do exactly that.
