Biography

Kim Groshek is an Executive Decision Strategist, keynote speaker, author, and founder of NorthStar Leadership Institute.

For more than 35 years, she has worked inside complex organizations, leadership teams, and high-stakes environments where smart people were not lacking ideas—they were carrying too many open decisions.

Kim helps CEOs, founders, executives, and leadership teams identify the one decision keeping everything else open, see what they cannot see alone, and move forward with greater clarity, ownership, and confidence.

Her work is built around a simple truth:
Most leaders do not need more information.
They need the decision that changes what happens next.

Kim has advised organizations ranging from Fortune 100 companies to universities, government organizations, founders, and executive teams. She is a five-time bestselling author and has written more than 77 books.

Her talks are practical, conversational, and designed to help people leave the room knowing exactly what they need to decide next.

Passion

Kim is passionate about helping accomplished people trust themselves enough to make the decision they already know needs to be made.

The higher someone rises, the fewer places they have where they can think out loud without performing, protecting a title, or already having the answer.

Kim creates those spaces.

Her work helps leaders step out of the noise, identify what is really open, hear themselves clearly, and make a decision they can move with.

At the center of her work is one question:

What is the one decision keeping everything else open?

Because one clear decision can change a business, a team, a relationship—or a life.

Best Story

One of Kim’s favorite client stories began with a sentence she has never forgotten:

“Kim, I’m too successful to admit I’m this stuck.”

He was a seasoned executive. On paper, his life worked. He had the title, the compensation, the credibility, and the leadership history.

But underneath it all, he felt trapped in a version of success that no longer fit.

He did not want more achievement. He wanted legacy. Something real. Something enduring. Something his family could see and feel after the meetings, deadlines, and corporate milestones were gone.

The issue was not talent. It was decision containment.

He was standing between two lives, but the old one was still running the system.

Kim helped him clarify the real decision, identify what was still open, and build a practical transition structure. Together, they shaped his message, drafted his book, built a pilot program, and created a path forward that did not require him to burn everything down to begin again.

Within a year, his book was drafted. His pilot program was running. A small team was helping deliver the work.
And for the first time, success no longer felt like something that consumed his life. It became something he could pass on.

When he told his children what he was building and watched their faces light up, he said:

“This is the first time my success feels like something I can leave to them, not something that took me from them.”

That is why Kim does this work.

Ideal Audiences:

Origin Story

Kim Groshek did not arrive with all the answers.
But she was consistent and had experience.

One thing she noticed, when she arrived in conference rooms is that smart people were tired of having the same conversation again.

She sat with founders who had the vision, the talent, and the ambition — but not the closed decision.

She watched leadership teams spend months circling the same issue while projects stalled, calendars filled, and momentum quietly drained from the room.

In one meeting, the problem was not strategy.
It was that nobody had named the actual decision.

In another, the team was not confused.
They were carrying too many open loops.

Again and again, Kim saw the same pattern:

A decision half-made.
A conversation reopened.
A leader carrying what the team had not clarified.

That pattern became the foundation of her work:

UN-DECISION → Decision Containment → Calm Momentum

Today, Kim helps leaders and teams find the real decision, close the open loop, and create the structure needed for execution to move forward.

For event managers, that means Kim does not simply inspire an audience.

She gives them language for what they are experiencing — and a practical way to move.
