Allison Ryder designs, implements, and manages media communication strategies to help people and organizations share ideas, build brands, and grow businesses. She is program director, Big Ideas at MIT Sloan Management Review, where she manages MIT SMR's strategic industry partnerships and licensing ecosystem.
She also produces the popular artificial intelligence podcast Me, Myself, and AI. Allison previously worked in marketing communications at design consultancy Continuum and in product development at Harvard Business Publishing.
I love learning more about marketing, customer relations, and technology adoption/implementation.
The research I manage looks mostly at how AI is reshaping organizations and what actionable lessons that offers managers and leaders worldwide.
I love connecting people and ideas. If I can help you find a speaking opportunity or a speaker for your event, let's chat!
I'm also open to moderation engagements.
I began my career in inside sales and discovered I love getting people talking. I burned out quickly, went back to my retail job (where I could talk to people!), and later found myself working as a video producer and office admin. I stayed in the creative field for a while and also did odds-and-ends work at startups like CoupMe, where I consulted on business development, account management, marketing, and copywriting, and TripAdvisor, where I worked on the member support team. I landed at Harvard Business Publishing, leading the organization's first cross-collaborative video initiative and fell in love with developing e-learning content for managers and leaders.
Since top-of-the-funnel marketing feels like education to me, I then joined design innovation firm Continuum, the company that designed the Swiffer, Insulet insulin pump, and the Reebok pump, to work in marketing communications. Three years later, an opportunity came along at MIT that I couldn't pass up: leading research partnerships between MIT Sloan Management Review, management consulting partners, and faculty. I've been in that role for nine years and, with MIT SMR winding down this fall, I'm currently looking for what's next.
Along the way, I've made some detours, starting a Red Sox t-shirt business for women and producing a couple of vinyl records and live music events. I'm available to freelance too!
